Out against Berdych

01.03.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Sorry to say that Roger lost in the semi finals of the Dubai Open to Tomas Berdych. In the first set he was strong and positive winning 6-3, then followed a score line  of 6-7(8), 4-6 to see the match finish in favour of Berdych. The tiebreaker in the second set was back & forth with Berdych coming out the eventual winner – at one point our Champ was 5-4 in the tiebreak but could not convert this in to a set win. Berdych then upped his game and went on to win the 3rd set 6-4 helped by some untypical Roger errors. "Pity to lose that one, but Tomas did well to hang in there," Roger said. "Obviously I leave this match with a lot of regrets. "You do all the right things for so long, and then at the end you've got to explain why you didn't hit two shots decent," he said. "So it's disappointing."

May you have a great rest from tennis with your family until the next match.
May all your fans be happy for they will be able to watch you play soon enough.
May you continue to set new records in tennis.

So exciting to think about all these. Yes!!

continue...
I also like to comment that you are wise to play within yourself. The human body is not a machine. I am glad you kow when to stop and when to move forward. I do not think it is wise to ignore pain just to win a match. Therefore as one of your loyal fans, please continue to play because as you said to the news media before, you do it because YOU LOVE TENNIS. And you said you will continue to play as long as Fans Support YOU. Yes we support you. U tried ur best. Good enough

I am so happy that you are still healthy. Thinking of other greats like Ferrero, Roddick, Gonzalez they are no longer around. BUT our Maestro is still healthy. still working hard and still winning... so happy to think of that. For me, as long as you are playing and having a chance to see your artistic and beautiful tennis which I think tennis should be, rather than powerful baseline non stop going back and forth like a boxing match, I am content. Love Chieko89

My dearest Maestro, I did not watch the Dubai final. I know the others are good players too but somehow without you being there, I do not have the motivation to watch. I am thinking about you and all my unknown friends here who are your fans. I like to cheer them up and share my thoughts. I hesitate to visit a lot of tennis sites now for I do not want to read some rude comments. I know my own belief. I believe in a clean and decent game. Thank you for all these years of joy.

Dear Roger, i hope you rest with your family, and that in Indian Wells you have all the luck you deserve for the good person and player you are.

I share your regret at this, Roger, but I wonder why some players are able to hit harder ad harder, beyond what seems t be superathlete capacities. Your matches were sublime, but if last one didn't work out, let it go. There was another one waiting to wrench arms wih the baseball-strongman circus show play. Be well! ^^^TENNISLOVAH, YOUR ADVICE IS NOT NEEDED. ROGER KNOWS BETTER THAT YOU, BUT IF YOU WAN TO RETIRE FROM WHATEVER, YOU DO IT, BUT DON'T TELL SOMEONE ELSE. IT'S A SIGN OF IGNORANCE.

Roger, you have given us a golden decade. It may be time to step away. Father Time wears us all down. Please do not go out like a Hewitt. Maybe it's better to leave in the top four. Don't wait too long.
