Out against Berdych

01.03.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Sorry to say that Roger lost in the semi finals of the Dubai Open to Tomas Berdych. In the first set he was strong and positive winning 6-3, then followed a score line  of 6-7(8), 4-6 to see the match finish in favour of Berdych. The tiebreaker in the second set was back & forth with Berdych coming out the eventual winner – at one point our Champ was 5-4 in the tiebreak but could not convert this in to a set win. Berdych then upped his game and went on to win the 3rd set 6-4 helped by some untypical Roger errors. "Pity to lose that one, but Tomas did well to hang in there," Roger said. "Obviously I leave this match with a lot of regrets. "You do all the right things for so long, and then at the end you've got to explain why you didn't hit two shots decent," he said. "So it's disappointing."

So close. Commiserations and better fortune in IW. Thank you for the excellent viewing though. You played some beautiful tennis.

Roger, you have given us a golden decade. It may be time to step away. Father Time wears us all down. Please do not go out like a Hewitt. Maybe it's better to leave in the top four. Don't wait too long.

Tough loss that Roger. Feel for you, sincerely.

Take stock, regroup and show them what you have got. You are better than all of them.

Go out there and enjoy Indian Wells, you can do it, you have done it .... and nobody can take that away from you.

Love you Roger and always will. You are the BEST xxxx

I am very disappointed, Roger, but I know you gave it your near-best to win the match (but Tomas was just a little tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny bit better)- which is good! Good luck in Indian Wells!

Love from MasterofTennis

better luck next time CHAMP! you are a CLASS..no need to prove yourself champ..you have your chances but unfortunately you could not avail that...Allah bless you always..its always hurts when you loses but its enough for me at least that you are playing..i love to watch you on tennis courts and without you..tennis courts and matches are not worth watching...May Allah bless you with the best of health and success, so that you may win more and more for us! love you loads and always my dear!

The pattern has become so troubling now: again Berdych Roger always tries to hard, rushes too much, hits too difficult shots, be too impatient, ... while Berdych always be so cocky as the matches go on, simply tries to make one more decent return to let Roger hits himself in the legs, ... and afterwards simply goes down stupidly again whoever next (Djoker...)

In short, Berdych's game will NEVER win him anything significant, but his attitude again Roger, and Roger's against his, make the outcom

Well some consolation. Berdych made it tough for Djokovic in the first set,, although he lost the match 2 love.
