Roger rushes into |next round

12.03.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Our Roger had a ‘scary’ moment yesterday – but not on court where he again showed all of his skills to romp through 6-3, 6-1 against the Croatian Ivan Dodig. Dodig’s game was full of errors including a double fault on match point which allowed our champ to wrap up the match in 61 minutes. Something slightly worrying was that Roger tweaked his back during the match but as he said:

"At the end I tweaked it a little bit, but it's not the first time it's happened in my career, it's happened during Grand Slams, during tournaments, in practice. It's just something you learn to deal with". This was our champ’s 890th career win bringing him level with Connors, Lendl and Vilas as the only men to have won that number of matches in the open era.

Oh yes – that ‘scary’ moment? A 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Indian Wells. It happened before the day’s matches had begun at around 10.00 when Roger was still in the house where he is staying with his family. His family were outside but our champ was in the house and ran outside fast. “I didn’t know how long it was going to last, if it was going to get worse from there, or if the worst was already past,” he said. “It was a very strange feeling to have because you see the windows shaking and you look up and realize you’re under a structure. It was quite scary for a second there.”

Roger please don't underestimate Stan. Since his match against Novak he is
Stan 2.0, so very good and dangerous.
Good luck and try to reserve some energy by doing it in straight sets so you can be fresh against Rafa.

Love you no matter what, your die hard fan, Kemna

It is earthquake country, and I'm glad that no damage was done, and everyone is safe. For tomorrow, you have a rival who has much improved, and maybe has something to prove. You kow the strategy to use, I am sure, and keep your goal in the back of your mind! (He will try to come with power and newer skills: wrongfoot him, use tactics, and all your inspired instincts.)Godbless, give you victory, and luck, too!
