In control

08.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger made a successful start after a break of several weeks, defeating Radek Stepanek 6-3, 6-3 at the Madrid Open.

"I didn't think I played incredible, but that's not what I was expecting myself to do here. But I didn't play bad, either. So I'm very happy with how things went today. Stepanek is a player who can cause a lot of difficulties in the game. He has caused me difficulties in the past. Today that wasn't the case. I thought I was pretty much in control," Roger said after the match.

It didn't take long for Roger to get into the rhythm of his game, cruising past stepanek in 81 minutes. He will now either play Japan's Kei Nishikori (ATP 16) or Viktor Troicki of Serbia (ATP 44).

I am ending this with hopefully a good note.
I also hope I have the right information, so don't mind me if it is not correct what I write, but it is about the feeling and thought:

Did he not lose Madrid badly in 2009 by Novak and then won RG in 2009??
Maybe this year it will happen again, who knows???

Usually the match report appears fairly soon afterwards but not a peep yet. I think Roger will be very upset right now and questioning perhaps how many more unnecessary defeats can he take.

He still is extremely talented a~d is extremely capable of winning one at least of the three remaining grand slams!

Like you guys I am disappointed too, but I know for every not so good year, there is also a year like 2012.
His 2011 year was not that good, but it ended pretty well and then came his 2012 year.
Maybe 2013 is his 2011 year, but that also means 2014 will be his 2012 year.
That is why I will never give up on Roger.
He was not happy when he lost today, or the matches he lost this year.
That is a good thing. He still cares and he STILL hates losing.
Don't give up on him. He is not done yet !!

SUZAN1979 You passed a harsh judgement on Roger's performance but did you actually watch the match or did you base this on the nasty posts here?

A WHOLE YEAR, WITHOUT A GRANDSLAM, AN ATP 1000, A 500, A 250, OR EVEN A CHALLENGER. IS HE WAITING FOR A WTA TO WIN? SO MANY TIMES I HAD TO STAY AWAKE TILL 4 OR 5 IN THE MORNING. THIS IS EMBARASSING AND FRUSTRATING. PLEASE FORGIVE ME. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE RUDE, JUST FRUSTRATION .

Like I was saying GHORGHOR,

Roger was never leaving his fans or questioning his fans when he was winning all those years, so why are you doubters questioning him and leaving him?

He never asked anything from his fans, so why are some of his fans asking him to retire??
05/10/2013 | 12:01 AM
GHORGHOR, would you have posted this too if he had won today??
No. You would be praising him up to the sky.
If you have the guts to be his fan in the good days (when he is winning), you should also have the guts to stick by him during the bad days (when he is losing).

Sounds almost like a marriage, but the same goes for beeing a fan:
FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE, IN GOOD TIMES AND IN BAD TIMES.

He was not leaving or questioning HIS FANS when he was winning everything, so why are you doing th

FANCYFREE...I didn`t read match reports ....what do you want to say

Fancyfree and Boting

Although your discussions are over, I have to say this, I do agree with everything ROSALINDE wrote. Roger will be slated and destroyed on every site by critics/reporters/commentators/haters/and all, so lets leave him alone on his own site. We can critise him, can question him, can let him know we are disappointed, but lets leave it at that. Don't worry, he will be destroyed on the web by others.
Too bad, his own fans or people like Ghorghor will do it on his site too.

SORRY MY DEAR FANCYFREE. IT'S NOT PERSONAL, BUT HE DONT CARE ABOUT SENTIMENTS OF HIS MILLIONS OF FANS WHO WAIT DAY AFTER DAY TO SEE THEIR BELOVED HERO WIN A TOURNAMENT. HE IS HUMILIATING ALL OF YOU.
