Roger upset in Madrid

10.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger suffered a 4-6, 6-1, 2-6 defeat against Kei Nishikori at the Madrid Open.

"Kei played better than I did, so the better guy won today, that's for sure. I'll sit together tonight or tomorrow with the team and discuss what the plan is for the next few days and weeks. So I'm excited for that, because clearly I have no choice but to hit the practice courts," Roger said.

Roger struggled with the conditions in Madrid as breezes and shady patches hit the court. He displayed good tennis during several phases but was not constant enough overall, battling with uncharacteristic errors. After losing the first set, he upped his game to level but lost his serve early in the decider and Nishikori broke for a third time in the match to seal victory.

There seems to be some real upsets happeing in this tournament. First Djoker, then Murray and Tsonga going down. And Nadal almost lost to Ferrer-Now wouldn't that of been the icing on the cake!!!!
It wasn't meant to be for some reason.
Practice hard and I am sure you will come back, Bigger and Better and Stronger than ever, You're Hungry for a win now.
Take care and see you soon.
It's all a learning curve.

I regard you as the most supreme player of all time. This is just a setback, which I know you will deal with in your customary fashion. No one knows better than yourself that you have many more triumphs ahead. I look forward with much pleasure to seeing you at the French and then Wimbledon. All best wishes to you and your team.

So pleased about Stan beating Tsonga. He really seems to believe in himself and his abilities at the moment. If it can not be Roger in the finals then it will be the next best thing if Stan gets there for me. I have to admit that for the moment he is a better player than Roger. Never thought I would say that, But, the real, magical Roger will be back, he has just got to find his magic wand again, and he WILL ! Hopp Suisse!!
