Roger upset in Madrid

10.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger suffered a 4-6, 6-1, 2-6 defeat against Kei Nishikori at the Madrid Open.

"Kei played better than I did, so the better guy won today, that's for sure. I'll sit together tonight or tomorrow with the team and discuss what the plan is for the next few days and weeks. So I'm excited for that, because clearly I have no choice but to hit the practice courts," Roger said.

Roger struggled with the conditions in Madrid as breezes and shady patches hit the court. He displayed good tennis during several phases but was not constant enough overall, battling with uncharacteristic errors. After losing the first set, he upped his game to level but lost his serve early in the decider and Nishikori broke for a third time in the match to seal victory.

Records-wise, performance-wise and contribution-wise, RF is the undisputed GOAT, yet GOAT will still be eroded by time; we need to face the reality that RF in the remaining of his career will face more and more defeats, especially from those young players like Kei. Our Champ, you are of course also one of the legends, if you could revitalize yourself and rebuild your empire, then you would become the legend of the legends LOTL, would you mind so doing?

Relax RF Universe, our man will improve, he has not taken such a long break before, expect some consequences. At least he said he will practice hard to improve, let us be reasonable and lower our expectations, seriously, the guy is almost 32, he will win here and there. Just enjoy the good times till the end. You will regret all the bad mouthing when he retires and the realisation hits us hard and fast that our RF's era is over. Just chillout and give him support until the end.

dear FANCYFREE, it's OK - let MACBETH and the long posts be.

I can tell MACBETH needs to get these things off her/his chest - Besides I think she/he means well.

So do you - keep on supporting Fed - he needs all the support we can muster :-)

Hi Rog, Ok, maybe more time on the practice courts, is the answer!?. Whatever you and your team decide, we are with you all the way. Remember you are only human, and you don't have to prove anything to anyone, as long as you are still enjoying the game. You are our number one, whatever. Take care.
