Roger upset in Madrid

10.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger suffered a 4-6, 6-1, 2-6 defeat against Kei Nishikori at the Madrid Open.

"Kei played better than I did, so the better guy won today, that's for sure. I'll sit together tonight or tomorrow with the team and discuss what the plan is for the next few days and weeks. So I'm excited for that, because clearly I have no choice but to hit the practice courts," Roger said.

Roger struggled with the conditions in Madrid as breezes and shady patches hit the court. He displayed good tennis during several phases but was not constant enough overall, battling with uncharacteristic errors. After losing the first set, he upped his game to level but lost his serve early in the decider and Nishikori broke for a third time in the match to seal victory.

The thing that hurts the most is that Rog is playing below his potential this year. He hasnt started the year the way he played 2nd half last year, in wimbledon and other events. Rog, stay focussed. Have that fire to comeback, win Rome. Enter Roland Garros with authority. Win it. I dont want people saying your time is over. We have to prove this world that you are still the same old Roger forever. please do this for us. We are all waiting to see you lift a title this year. cheers. Dont lose hope

Roger, First of all I am very upset to see you lose so early after your comeback after 50days. This is the worst year so far for you. You havent won any title at all and you are not reaching finals of the tournaments as well. You failed to defend the titles that you won last year, so far. I write this with heavy heart as I am a worshipper of you, not just fan. I dont want to see my dear Roger losing like this. Please fix your issues soon and win Rome. I want you to win slams this year.plssssssss

Win some,lose some,try again.
And try and try again,as great champions do,and as you had done,in transitioning towards their goals.
All the best for Rome and for more opportunities to secure that elusive rhythm!

Not your day, Roger! Too bad you could not reach next round. I am sure you and your team will come up with a plan for the rest of the clay season.
Best wishes.

aj81 - What on earth are you talking about? Would you ask Djokovich to hang up his racket because he was beaten in his first game at this event? Probably not! These things happen in life and you move on to the next event. I would think the last things The Great Fed would want is to hear is your comments. The Fed will come back from this, but I do question the need for Annacone!

even it was a sad result.
but what done is done.
your conclusion is the best, "sit and discuss", just do it.
you are always the champ
