In quarters

17.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Our Champ has just come through the 3rd round of the Rome masters in fine style against Gilles Simon 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour. Simon put up a spirited resistance at 2-4 in the second set that produced an 11 minute game but Roger’s shot-making was in fine form and he won out to finish the match with no further problem. Roger stats showed that he finished up with 75% of first serves in and winning 73% of first serve points – impressive by anybody’s standards.

Next up will be Jerzy Janowicz (ATP 24).

Hello Roger
I have been working up north therefore not able to post very much since your return--however, have had a wonderful day today watching dvds of recorded matches.
Firstly bad luck that you lost Rnd 3 in Madrid --IMO it just was not your day, windy, only 2nd match since your well deserved break,Kei Nishikori is a good player and would not be surprised if Brad Drewett's death was on your mind--the latter very natural considering your close working relationship with him. In the 2nd set

Here's hoping you subdue the large Pole very quickly Roger and show him who has the best forehand. All the best for today's match, hope you can play as entrancingly well as so far in Rome, will be cheering for you (very) loudly. Much, much love and congratulations for the delightful matches so far. xxxx

Brilliant Roger...what a joy it is to watch your magical tennis; you sliced through Simon with hardly a pause. I particularly liked how you dug in to get that 2nd break in the second set - keep up the pressure against Janowicz - he's tough, but no match against your arsenal of shots...all the best for that one, love always, xxxxxx

Congratulations Roger on a fine win against Gilles who can be an awkward and very good player. I sincerely hope your excellent form continues - am sure it will.

best wishes to you and your family
