Semifinal in Rome

18.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Our Champ came through a much tougher test tonight against Jerzy Janowic 6-4, 7-6(2) in an hour and 25 minutes. Roger had to raise his game in the second set as Janowic broke in the first game and held through to 5–4 when Roger managed to draw level at 5-5. Our Champ then went on to 6-5 but Janowic managed to hold on to  take him to 6-6 with Roger taking the match 7-4 in the tie break. The match gave us some wonderful rallies from both men with a lot of very fine touch shots throughout. Roger was able to raise his game as necessary and contained Janowic when needed.

He now meets Benoit Paire in the Semi-Finals.

Rafa is not unbeatable. Let us give Roger a chance to show us what he has been working on the last few weeks! He is fit, he is strong, and yes, I have seen the look in Rogers eyes, he is determined! He knows very well it is difficult but possible to beat Rafa on clay. I just hope he has had enough games under his belt to get rid of any tournament rust! I think he will be happy just to get into the final, a win would be a bonus, but he will be ready then for France. Come on Roger, beat Paire!

He's a one trick pony.

Just how can you respect Murray?

As for the French Open we know the story. I love Roger however I respect his opponents (Djokovic and Murray) he can beat on any surface on any given day. Rafa on clay in Rome is bad enough, Rafa at the French Open, Roger would do very well to take a set. I don't blame Roger I couldn't handle those high balls more than once.

Rogers form is irreverent going into the final with Rafa. I don't know its just Roger needs to hammer Rafa's backhand and hard, but always seems to play to rafa's strength the forehand and attacks that wing when coming in. Its the same sorry story. Every player does it. The ones who win hammer his backhand ie Novak (Again who barely misses)

It is getting harder for him to win. Today he played great and Berdych did not.
And Rafa is in his 8th final of the year.

But it is not a given that he will defeat Roger in the final.
It will be a given if Paire goes through, then there is no stopping Rafa.

But have you seen in Roger's eyes? He is not stupid. Like the remark he made about RG. He KNOWS he will be in Rafa's half no matter what, no matter the draw.

He knew Rafa would make the Rome fina

Remember Rafa was beaten recently in Monte Carlo in the final by Djokovic .....
