Roger loses Rome final

19.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger lost the final in Rome against Rafael Nadal 1-6, 3-6 in only 68 minutes and therefore our champ is still not able to add the Rome title to his long list of trophies.

The stats of the game tell two different stories – yes they tell you that Rafa Nadal won 6-1, 6-3 but they also say that Roger had 32 unforced errors to Rafa’s 8 during a match that lasted 1 hour 8 minutes. Another telling stat was that our Roger only won 55% of his first serves – down from 73% in his match against Simone. There was a glimmer of hope in the second set when Roger won 2 games in row to go from 1-5 to 3-5 with some brilliant shot making. Unfortunately in the last game our champ had two unforced errors and at 0-40 Nadal sent down a good serve to clinch the Championship. As ever Roger was gracious at the end complementing Rafa on the way he played.

Next up are the French Open, starting next Sunday.

not something new but more efficient tactic. Nadal is a innovator. He just comes up with good new tactic that gives him higher percentage of winning. Roger before he got mono virus can just beat nadal on clay with no match up tactic to his new innovation of tactic. If Roger had a adjustment on his tactics to match up with nadal's new innovation, Roger would have beaten him with ease on clay. that's what Djokovic did. he analized nadal's tactic and came up with solution. that's what roger need

All your posts are realistic. All those sweet talking guys are dreaming to fulfill their fantasy. A true champ or GOAT never faces a rival trembling that way. Yes he is ""chicken"". Prove it otherwise. Show everybody you're a true fighter. Let your face show a fire determining look instead of that vague expressionless look of someone who isn't even in a battle field. You were the weakest of all those who faced Nadal. You are ruining your ' Maestro ' conduct. Isn't such a shame!

I didn't have the chance to see your match against Nadal live but I was able to watch the match later as it was replayed in the Tennis Channel. I noticed that you changed your game strategy for this match. I know the outcome wasn't what you expected but at least you had the guts to try something different against someone that is known by some in the sport as the "King of Clay". I'm sure that you will analyze what went right but mostly what went wrong and learn from it for future events.

Hi Rog. Well, I was hoping & praying that the Rome final outcome would be different, wanted it to be the reverse of what is was. Your aggressive strategy was the right tactic, but you just couldn’t quite make it come together. Rafa is always tough on clay, but he also played an excellent match, best he’s played for some time.

Read an interesting match analysis by Craig O’Shannessy on the ATP website, liked it!

On to big success at RG!
Cheers to you & your 3 lovely girls!

Dear Rog,
Hope u r fine & healthy & happy.
Saw the first set. I was devastated. Turned off the TV. Couldn't see the remaining.
Please come back strong to raise ur 2nd RG, 8th SW19, 6th USO even if Nadal stands in your way.
Please don't defeat yourself.
Take Good Rest. Prepare Well.

I think that Roger will beat Rafael Nadal with his new game plan in Roland Garros.
On friday Bayern Munih will take a cup for Champion Leaque. There is no Real Madrid on Champion Leaque. Get it?
