Roger wins second match

29.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

A 23minute first set sums up the total domination of Roger over the 188th ranked Indian Somdev Dewarman when he won 6-2, 6-1, 6-1. Our champ was able to spray shots all over the court with ease as he cruised into the 3rd round of the French open.

“I tried to finish the match quite quickly, because I was afraid it would rain," Roger said. "So I was very focused, and I'm very happy for that." As a sign of his staying power, Roger moved ahead of Budge Patty into third place on the men's list for match victories at Roland Garros with 56. Guillermo Vilas and Nicola Pietrangeli share the record of 58. “I'm happy that I was playing offensive and aggressive tennis in the first two matches," he said. "I didn't back off and start to play passive tennis and wait for mistakes. I took it to my opponent."

Next up is Julien Benneteau who could well present Roger with a much sterner test.

For those who mentioned being unable to see Roger's match with Devvarman, I could not see it live but was able to watch the entire replay on espn3.com.

Good luck in the next round Roger!

Gulbis should work much harder instead of living like a jet setter and waisting
his talent.

Hi, Roger, Benneteau is still very very dangerous. I saw a bit of his match yesterday. He served well and returned aggresively. His FH and BH could find the corners and lines quite often and the his rhythm was really fast. You'd better find out a way to disturb his hot shot, maybe some spin could work, I hope. Mentally, technically, prepare well for the tough match. I believe you will fight through. Good luck, Roger! Best wishes!

Reading your response, makes me so proud of you, wish every one in the world was like you, love you more than my life :)..
