Roger wins second match

29.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

A 23minute first set sums up the total domination of Roger over the 188th ranked Indian Somdev Dewarman when he won 6-2, 6-1, 6-1. Our champ was able to spray shots all over the court with ease as he cruised into the 3rd round of the French open.

“I tried to finish the match quite quickly, because I was afraid it would rain," Roger said. "So I was very focused, and I'm very happy for that." As a sign of his staying power, Roger moved ahead of Budge Patty into third place on the men's list for match victories at Roland Garros with 56. Guillermo Vilas and Nicola Pietrangeli share the record of 58. “I'm happy that I was playing offensive and aggressive tennis in the first two matches," he said. "I didn't back off and start to play passive tennis and wait for mistakes. I took it to my opponent."

Next up is Julien Benneteau who could well present Roger with a much sterner test.

Plenty of flair in your game today but you will have to play like it again but firmer.
You can beat Bnneteau think positive all the way and win the break points more and less unforced errors ans the match is yours.
Good luck Roger love always Helen xxxxxxxx

Hello Roger,

A second quick and clean victory has given you a nice and easy warmup start of the tournament. In the next round you can hopefully profit from not having wasted any energy in the previous rounds and also being mentally fresh after the long break. I am looking forward to your meeting with Julien Benneteau on clay, expecting a tough match and wishing you all the very best for it.

Did Gulbis really say that? Why are tennis courts are supposed to be places for war? I find it better like this with the respect players have to each other and about shaking hands after the match, I believe it's a great habit of tennis players.....
