Roger wins second match

29.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

A 23minute first set sums up the total domination of Roger over the 188th ranked Indian Somdev Dewarman when he won 6-2, 6-1, 6-1. Our champ was able to spray shots all over the court with ease as he cruised into the 3rd round of the French open.

“I tried to finish the match quite quickly, because I was afraid it would rain," Roger said. "So I was very focused, and I'm very happy for that." As a sign of his staying power, Roger moved ahead of Budge Patty into third place on the men's list for match victories at Roland Garros with 56. Guillermo Vilas and Nicola Pietrangeli share the record of 58. “I'm happy that I was playing offensive and aggressive tennis in the first two matches," he said. "I didn't back off and start to play passive tennis and wait for mistakes. I took it to my opponent."

Next up is Julien Benneteau who could well present Roger with a much sterner test.

1st serve % per set
Nadal - 58, 84, 83
Klizan - 56, 57, 48

Just on that alone you know why Nadal wins so many matches, he has amazing consistency and pretty much improves on all areas that he needed to from the previous set. It's annoying but you have to give him credit.

Annoying how his opponents simply wittle away - first they get broken early in the set and then again to lose the set and ofcourse, he will serve first in the next set. Literally like I know if he is 5-3 up, his opponent will just collapse and hand the set without fight.

So far everything is going according to plan, Roger. But we all know that Nadal is your worst enemy.
A nice article was written by John Leicester on yahoo sports about you. I hope you'll read it.
