Roger wins second match

29.05.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

A 23minute first set sums up the total domination of Roger over the 188th ranked Indian Somdev Dewarman when he won 6-2, 6-1, 6-1. Our champ was able to spray shots all over the court with ease as he cruised into the 3rd round of the French open.

“I tried to finish the match quite quickly, because I was afraid it would rain," Roger said. "So I was very focused, and I'm very happy for that." As a sign of his staying power, Roger moved ahead of Budge Patty into third place on the men's list for match victories at Roland Garros with 56. Guillermo Vilas and Nicola Pietrangeli share the record of 58. “I'm happy that I was playing offensive and aggressive tennis in the first two matches," he said. "I didn't back off and start to play passive tennis and wait for mistakes. I took it to my opponent."

Next up is Julien Benneteau who could well present Roger with a much sterner test.

Dear Roger,
Firstly, good luck for your match against Julien Benneteau. Secondly, I wish your match will be a new and exciting match for you and French audience. Also, I wish the weather is sunny in Paris where birds are flying freely. Thirdly, if you want to win your match, you should play your magical tennis with an amazing game plan.

I think it is good to try new things like hair cut and design outfits. But somehow I long to see you go back to the other haircut also. And the other outfits with collar. But it is not bad idea to try new things.
Best of health and happiness against Benneteau. It is intersting that he is of same age, same height, going to be a good match. Allez.

Good Luck Roger for the rest of the French Open

I can't help myself: man, that's a bad haircut!!

I didn't like the new hair cut. I like the way you're playing in Paris though. Good luck today!!

Good luck today Roger!! I'll be getting up at 4 AM (Pacific Time) to watch you. The losses to Benneteau were both indoors and the crazy Wimbledon match was indoors. He is an indoor specialist (58% winning % indoors, compared to 45% outdoors). Also clay is his weakest surface so I have confidence that you are on track to make the finals. Let the FedExpress roll on!!!!

& finishing points --magic, hard to do I know, BUT you make it look so easy.
Alsao you read the game so well, calm & measured.
As for one of the final points final game 3rd set-with you outside [or almost] the tram lines hits an inside out f/h which skims over the net leaving no space between the ball and net--just extraordinary. Pat Rafter always believed that you created shots as you went along. He was right.
Wishing you all of the very best for round 3
Kindest regards

Hello Roger
What a thrill for the young affable Somdev Devvarman to play the great Roger Federer 2nd round RG in front of a full stadium. Very atheletic, kept his cool and played very well . He did his cricket loving country proud."He will always be able to say " I played Roger Federer in a GS."
Roger you would HAVE to be the most talented tennis player without a doubt to ever play the game [of tennis] One of the great areas of your game that I really love to watch is you building up

I'm so pleased from what I've seen on court so far, so I will continue to suggest the following to be efficient and effective:

Aggressive play from start to finish. You mean business on court!
Don't play with your opponent....beat him!
Do not stay at the baseline.
Serve and volley. Chip and charge. Go to the net at every opportunity.
Penetrate the slice backhand. Use drop shots.
