900th victory!

02.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Our Champ certainly put us through the mill today but he came through in 2hrs 59mins 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 against Gilles Simon.

From having one of his shots in the first set described as “defying the laws of physics” our Roger then went on to lose the next two sets. Simon came out playing attacking tennis in the second & third sets which is not his normal game. But it seemed as though Roger never really lost control of the match and patiently built his way through to the fourth set and again took control – perhaps it was the sight of Mirka with her head in her hands at one stage that spurred him on. On the way he passed yet another record completing his 900th tour win. Only Connors and Villas now hold more triumphs under their belts. It was also amazing to hear the support that Roger enjoyed from the French crowd even though he was playing a French competitor.

Our Champ is in action again next Tuesday when his opponent will be Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the 1/4 finals.

So sad that you lost today, Roger, but clearly you weren't on your game, something was wrong, best wishes now for the grass season. You've a few more days for practice and Wimbledon is the big one!!!

Good luck to Jo - after this, Jo surely has a great chance to win RG if he stays positive.

Much love as always Roger to you and your dear family and good luck in Halle.

Dear Roger
There must be an explanation for your "play"" today. If you are tired or injured and play so strong player like Tsonga, you had no chances!
I know Roger is the best player for us, bur so many unbelievable errors in three sets could have resulted only in your loss! Unfortunately. And you'll lose the points now!
Anyway, I'll always love you and I'm really proud to be your fan.
Wish you all the best and good luck dearest Roger! Prepare for Wimby, please!
Love, Mimi

Don't worry. Our Champ will be back. Now we need get used to these kind of losses. Roger always thinks long-term. He wants to play as long as he can and I'm damn sure he's gonna win many tournaments (atleast 1-2 GS). Its just some disappointed fans and many anti-fans jumping right in... And we are used to it too.

Some of you guys are so disrespectful to Roger.

My God, even the French crowd was more respectful to him. They were not cheering Tsonga a lot, they were not going out of their mind when Tsonga won the matchpoint. And... they even waited until Roger left the court to cheer for Tsonga.
Even Tsonga did not celebrate that much when he won and did not overact when Roger left.

Maybe you should reread your comments again.

Well Toni Nadal talked about French Open favorites... Not everywhere. He said Roger is not the favorite at French Open... But there's nothing new to that statement. He was not favorite anymore at RG since 2011...

Only thing that s ok is one who beat u is Tsonga. But i hate that he still be beaten by Nadal.
