900th victory!

02.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Our Champ certainly put us through the mill today but he came through in 2hrs 59mins 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 against Gilles Simon.

From having one of his shots in the first set described as “defying the laws of physics” our Roger then went on to lose the next two sets. Simon came out playing attacking tennis in the second & third sets which is not his normal game. But it seemed as though Roger never really lost control of the match and patiently built his way through to the fourth set and again took control – perhaps it was the sight of Mirka with her head in her hands at one stage that spurred him on. On the way he passed yet another record completing his 900th tour win. Only Connors and Villas now hold more triumphs under their belts. It was also amazing to hear the support that Roger enjoyed from the French crowd even though he was playing a French competitor.

Our Champ is in action again next Tuesday when his opponent will be Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the 1/4 finals.

The best today our Maestro. I hope the wind dies down. Only players and on court audience know how physical it is to fight in the wind like that. The best to you. As long as you are playing I am happy. As long as you are playing I shall die to watch tennis. So lucky to have your matches to look for and wait for. Yes.

i hope roger wins today. but if he doesn't it won't upset me. it used to, but i learned i had to take my emotions out of it and just enjoy his tennis. from now on he will at times win a lot of titles like last year, and at times not. so i will be happy if he wins here, but i think his chances are better at wimby. saying all of that i hope he proves me wrong and is FO champ. all i want here is no more losses to nadal. so i hope for a fed final vs anyone not named nadal.

Congratulation on your amazing victory on Simon.
Go Roger Go for the Best ever tennis players've ever played. Wishing you execute excellence game plans & tactics to oust Jo successful in three. Be careful of him, coz he is dangerous variety style player. Always keep calm and cool to keep your aggressive plays consistency. Bombard him with your precise & superb serves. Avoid to let him break your serves dear. And show'em who is the boss.
In RF we’re always believe in.

You are a genius you had me in tears when you were down two sets and then you did what you normally do get it together.
I hope you play even better today as Tsonga is playing brilliantly.

Wow, what was a thrilling one, Roger.

I couldn't watch the match but the last two sets and, man, what a comeback from you. Congrats for the win and the 900th victory. That is a milestone. It is unreal to see how you keep breaking records day over day.

There's a tough challenge ahead facing Tsonga today on your 36th consecutive GS QF (stellar). You've proved to be on such good shape this week that I'm sure you go through it.

I wish you the very best champ. Good luck.
I still believe. Com

900th victory, and 9th non calendar year in the quarters (9x4). Possibly for a 18th Grand Slam (9x2)? The final on June 9th. Nine. Maybe it is a sign. The 9 symbolize the dragon who is associated with the Emperor. That got to be for Roger. Emperor Federer lifting Coupe des Mousquetaires on Sunday! We got to believe!

I think you are quite right if Tsonga's Forehands are neutralised by our Hero then we will get an easy win....
