900th victory!

02.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Our Champ certainly put us through the mill today but he came through in 2hrs 59mins 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 against Gilles Simon.

From having one of his shots in the first set described as “defying the laws of physics” our Roger then went on to lose the next two sets. Simon came out playing attacking tennis in the second & third sets which is not his normal game. But it seemed as though Roger never really lost control of the match and patiently built his way through to the fourth set and again took control – perhaps it was the sight of Mirka with her head in her hands at one stage that spurred him on. On the way he passed yet another record completing his 900th tour win. Only Connors and Villas now hold more triumphs under their belts. It was also amazing to hear the support that Roger enjoyed from the French crowd even though he was playing a French competitor.

Our Champ is in action again next Tuesday when his opponent will be Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the 1/4 finals.

Dear Rogerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,

Here's a WARNING : Just don't let Tsonga hit his forehand down the line, so attack him before getting into rallies. He has a strong will to survive and you need to tell yourself that you reach the finals and win. You better play point by point and keep your service 100%. Also, please take things for granted like your drop shot-making. Please make an effort to place the ball accurately and keep your mind coooooooooooool. GOOD LUCK !!!

A very interesting point you made.

Who is the new person who writes the match summaries on this website? Your way of putting things makes me cringe. Prefer the old writer who was less biased in their assessment of our champ. Good luck today Roger!

Here we go again! I am so nervous already! Beautiful sunny day in London so I would imagine the same in Paris. A perfect day for a perfect result! X

Yesterday I (once again) watched the highlights of the AO 2013 encounter between Fed and Tsonga. What a quality match that was! Pure offensive tennis, this is how it should be instead of pusher and powerplay. Tsonga is with Wawrinka and monfils my favourite players on tour.

To bad someone has to lose today but I hope Fed wins in 3, if not I hope Jo Wilfried will go all the way!

Congratulations, dearest Roger, on 900 wins and 36th consecutive QF at majors. What records! It's just amazing.
Best of luck against Tsonga today. May you feel great and bring your best games aginst him.
God bless you!
Always with you,
