900th victory!

02.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Our Champ certainly put us through the mill today but he came through in 2hrs 59mins 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 against Gilles Simon.

From having one of his shots in the first set described as “defying the laws of physics” our Roger then went on to lose the next two sets. Simon came out playing attacking tennis in the second & third sets which is not his normal game. But it seemed as though Roger never really lost control of the match and patiently built his way through to the fourth set and again took control – perhaps it was the sight of Mirka with her head in her hands at one stage that spurred him on. On the way he passed yet another record completing his 900th tour win. Only Connors and Villas now hold more triumphs under their belts. It was also amazing to hear the support that Roger enjoyed from the French crowd even though he was playing a French competitor.

Our Champ is in action again next Tuesday when his opponent will be Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the 1/4 finals.

Easiest way for any player to defeat Nadal on clay:
The secret behind Nadal being very strong in clay is the high bounce of his ball and the surface helps, the ball bounces around 1.7m and when the player tries to return it its near his chest level making it uncomfortable to hit, all you have to do is move 2 steps back and return the ball while its falling down after the first bounce not while it is moving upwards and you will remove Nadal's strong point on clay.

Dear Roger,
it's been quite delightful watching your matches trough this RG: the exhibition mode in the begining as much as the last one's emotions. I see you very comfortable on court, light, willing and ready to the fight. We will be

Good luck against Tsonga. May the gods smile upon you

Good luck against Tsonga today Roger, stay calm and don't care about the crowd which will be behind Tsonga because he is #1 french tennis player ( you also removed 2 from the best french players away from the list so they may be angry on you also) Hope you win in straight sets :) .

Good luck today Roger. I believe in you. Just show the same hunger and fighting spirit you showed against Simon and you will overcome Tsonga too.
Hope he does not get all the love of the crowd, hope the crowd cheers for you too.

I believe in you Roger, you will overcome Tsonga and win !!!

Your die hard fan, no matter a loss or a win, I love you Roger.

Congratulations on the 900th win! Hopefully you'll employ a more aggressive play against Tsonga. Please take more advantage of your leads. I know when you're confident, there'll be no one to beat you.
