Out against Tsonga

04.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Unfortunately Roger lost his quarter final match against Jo Wilfreid Tsonga today 7-5, 6-3, 6-3. Our champ could only bring 58% of points on his first serve which contained no aces. Combined with 34 unforced errors there was only one way this match was going.

“This is obviously a crushing loss," Roger said following a quick shirt change. "I struggled a little bit everywhere. Personally, I'm pretty sad about the match and the way I played. Jo-Willy played great today. He was better than me in all areas . He returned better than I did, served better than I did. I struggled to find my rhythm. I'm just disappointed I couldn't put in a better match. Missing smashes goes hand in hand with missing so many other things," said our champ, who was broken six times during the contest. "Should have never gotten broken (after being up) 4-2 (in the first set). In hindsight now that's obviously a huge game for me, and things didn't go well from then on for me today."

Roger’s next contest is at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle (Germany), starting on the 10th June.

It's very cool (20C/55F) and damp at the French Open final. Light rain expected throughout this afternoon and tomorrow. These are better conditions for Roger against Nadal. Cool and damp clay is partly why Roger won four Hamburg Masters titles -- and why Nadal avoided Hamburg for so many years. Too many people write off Roger against Nadal on clay. But Roger had a 4-5 record (including one clay win) against Nadal between 2009 Madrid and 2012 Indian Wells, and close match at 2011 French final.

Showtime, lets all "enjoy" Rafa winning his 8th RG and 12th GS.

Hope Ferrer can do a miracle. My God, he deserves one and he deserves the title.

Nadal prefer to face Roger since Roger is using single handed backhand where nadal like to attack Roger back hand bank with high bounce n heavy topspin on Roger backhand, whereas djokovic n Murray two handed backhand can hit back powerfuk back straight to nadal which force nadal into defensive position, nadal fear Murray n djokovic which have very strong n powerful backhand

Interesting article on www.thedailybeast.com/articles. Not very flattering about your new look.
It seems to me that lately discusses more about your hair than on your game.
Sincerely hope that this will change soon, and will talk about your success on the court.
Best of luck.

guys, roger COULD play nadal and djokovic with a more physical brutal game, but I doubt he will change his strategy. He has never been the super fitness tennis player that destroys opponents by wearing them down... he doesn't need that since he is the best technician ever...
