Out against Tsonga

04.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Unfortunately Roger lost his quarter final match against Jo Wilfreid Tsonga today 7-5, 6-3, 6-3. Our champ could only bring 58% of points on his first serve which contained no aces. Combined with 34 unforced errors there was only one way this match was going.

“This is obviously a crushing loss," Roger said following a quick shirt change. "I struggled a little bit everywhere. Personally, I'm pretty sad about the match and the way I played. Jo-Willy played great today. He was better than me in all areas . He returned better than I did, served better than I did. I struggled to find my rhythm. I'm just disappointed I couldn't put in a better match. Missing smashes goes hand in hand with missing so many other things," said our champ, who was broken six times during the contest. "Should have never gotten broken (after being up) 4-2 (in the first set). In hindsight now that's obviously a huge game for me, and things didn't go well from then on for me today."

Roger’s next contest is at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle (Germany), starting on the 10th June.

a tennis player and life long lover of tennis in general, I accept his losses and move on to the next chapter of his career.
I do not think that there is any point comparing him[Roger] to any other player, his records stand alone. His great career, thus far is full of many many postives. I am so very proud of you Roger for everything that you have worked for & achieved AND you are still ONLY 31 years!!
I admire David Ferrer hopefully he will RG--he deserves to do so.

enjoyed watching this great extremely talented man, Roger Federer play his beautiful tennis CONSISTENTLY at the very highest level --54 consecutive Grand Slams, reached 36 straight GS quarterfinals, the list goes on and on--would take me hours to print all of his achievements. The amazing stat about Roger is he usually plays so very very well even when he loses, creating some amazing point/shot.To me Roger IS tennis--naturally I would always like him to win BUT being a chronic fan

Hello Roger
What a sad world we live in with so many persons with VERY short memories who do not, or cannot remember, let alone appreciate, what one has achieved when, on the odd occasion they do not perform or win a tennis match. He is aged ,lacks confidence, should retire etc --the endless sickening rubbish goes on and on from those 'armchair' know alls who appear to have no feeling for the person and think they know why someone does not win.
For over a decade we, at least some of us. have

Guys you know what, after Ferrer reached FO final Nadal will become 5th in ranking and if Ferrer wins the tournament Federer will become 4th also, what's important is ( whether Federer becomes 4th or not) there is a chance that in Wimbledon Roger, Nadal and Djokovic being in the same half of the draw !!!

You always impress me with that your happy smile, even though you have lost important game the other day. Bravo. It is a true champion mindset.
Roger, if you win Wimbledon it will be a real cure for all these defeats, and this season will be great. Therefore, racket in your hand and working hard. Enough of these tough guys and runners. It's time to show who is the best tennis player and why. It is time for real tennis. We want eighth title.

There was lot of media hype that may be this time Tsonga would prove himself wrong as choker in big matches but that didn't happen.

My analysis of the quarter final is, Its not Tsonga who out played Rogi its Rogi who couldn't maintain the competition level. First set break was important Rogi couldn't capitalize on that, otherwise it could have been a different story.

But again we are discussing IFs and BUTs. Lets pray that Roger bounces back and make us happy :) again :)

If David Ferrer Could Done It Then Why You Couldn't Done It ?

David Ferrer Hasn't Have Lots Of Expirience As You Have... You Are Still Greatest Of All Time... So Come On Roger See Narrowly Towards That Direction & Take It More Seriously As Per Your Reputation...

I Couldn't Stop My Tears For While After Your Quarter-Final Defeat Against Tsonga
