Out against Tsonga

04.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Unfortunately Roger lost his quarter final match against Jo Wilfreid Tsonga today 7-5, 6-3, 6-3. Our champ could only bring 58% of points on his first serve which contained no aces. Combined with 34 unforced errors there was only one way this match was going.

“This is obviously a crushing loss," Roger said following a quick shirt change. "I struggled a little bit everywhere. Personally, I'm pretty sad about the match and the way I played. Jo-Willy played great today. He was better than me in all areas . He returned better than I did, served better than I did. I struggled to find my rhythm. I'm just disappointed I couldn't put in a better match. Missing smashes goes hand in hand with missing so many other things," said our champ, who was broken six times during the contest. "Should have never gotten broken (after being up) 4-2 (in the first set). In hindsight now that's obviously a huge game for me, and things didn't go well from then on for me today."

Roger’s next contest is at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle (Germany), starting on the 10th June.

JODOUG: Saying Roger cannot win because “it's all mental” is a loser’s argument. Roger has won 10 matches against Nadal (twice on clay). Roger has beaten Nadal at least once every year between 2005 to 2012 (except 2008).
In 2011 FO final, tired Roger converted 5 of 15 breakpoints. Fresh Nadal converted 7 of 15 BPs. A close match.
In 2007 FO, Roger played with a groin injury that affected some of those 17 BPs. Another close match where Nadal won only 53.3% of 255 total points.

Dear Roger, don't be too hard with yourselves. Your time to win more grand slam will come. Tennis is your passion. Stay healthy annd keep playing. Nadal and Dyokovic were at age 24 or 25. Wait and see in the future when Dyokovic and Nadal reach 31 years old, Nadal need a knee replacement and Dyokovic will need shoulder surgery or be the Serbia president????? Take care of your health and looking forward to see you play in grass court. Forget the past. Live here and now (future).

JODOUG: See link for America’s most disliked athletes: No. 2 Tiger, No. 6 LeBron, No. 7 Kobe are among the highest paid by sponsors. Good character is not critical to sponsors. Tiger remained the world’s highest-paid athlete even after his scandals and lack of titles – because sales increased of Nike golf products and Tiger’s video game. Had consumers stopped buying those products, Tiger would be dumped. Will Roger be as lucky if his results plunge?

Roger: Every year you know when to make your stand, it looks, in my humble opinion, that the moment is now, Rafa and Nole are tired and murray is returning from injury.U are fit and powerfull,U just need an emphatic win to let you know you are capable of winning each time. Just keep your focus on each minute and aspect of the matches and train your backhand non-stop,. Play Eastbourne to get 500 points prior to Wimbledon please, know that your are the champion.

**TONYN** i don't care what statistics you throw at this and what logic. roger can be fresh as a daisy and nadal playing on one leg. nadal wins. nothing to do with logic, it's all mental. we have seen it for years. one year roger had 17 break points and converted 1. lost in 4 sets. physically he is or was capable lots of times just didn't do it. frankly i didn't care to see it again.

Radal dominates his life on red clay, Nole fights his life to try hard, and Mr. Federer is the smartest person to save his power and energy for much bigger on the grass court.

Let's see who will have the final smile on tennis court.

JODOUG: A fitter, trained, fresher Roger has a decent chance against a drained Nadal. Rafa won 52.8% of 335 points in 277 mins against Djokovic -- but Novak should have won.
In 2011 FO, Roger played grueling 309-point, 219-minute semifinal with Djokovic. Yet in final, Roger played his best FO match against Nadal. Roger had setpoint in first set. Both tied on points won at start of fourth set before tired Roger fizzled (5-7, 6-7, 7-5, 1-6). Nadal won 52.4% of 273 points in 220 mins.

While i was watching Ferrer-Tsonga match, i was so furious. Is this the man that beat Federer? Yes Ferrer is playing great during this tiurnament but as far as remember he is the same age as Fed yet he is fighting like a 25 years old player. I hope that you turn around during the breif grass season and show us the old Fed that we all know and looking forward to see. If you fail this time, although i hope not, you should have a serious talk with Annacone as well as Mirka regarding your future.

**TONYN** i believe you helped make my point. according to you tiger didn't win for almost 3 yrs and he still got paid. not quite true. once 101 mill now 78 mill. yet you want to run roger down for 9 months and say he doesn't deserve the money. lebron wasn't unfaithful, didn't do drugs, helped kids. beloved before he left cleveland on tv. no bad boy. now beloved again. kobe accused 10 years ago 2003, and lost sponsors then. time helped him recover. we'll agree to diasgree and close subject.
