Finals in Halle!

15.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger booked a spot in the final in Halle after beating defending champion Tommy Haas 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 today.

Roger made far too many errors in the opening set, but surged to a 3-0 lead in the second set thanks to a series of forehand and volley winners. From then on, our champ looked sharp on the grass court, remaining solid on his serve and keeping up the pressure in the rematch of last year's final. He converted his second match point after 1 hour and 38 minutes of play.

Roger needs just one more victory for his sixth Halle title - he will play play either Frenchman Richard Gasquet or Russian Mikhail Youzhny on Sunday. It would be his first tournament title this season.

**MITGANTZ** i agree with you. his level is below last year when he had won dubai, rotterdam, IW, and madrid by now. wish he can get it done tomorrow. head to head couldn't be better. maybe that will give him the confidence he needs. hope it's 15-0 after tomorrow. i really expected gasquet to beat youzhny. hope youzhny is through surprising me.

MITGANZ Nothing to do physically about age but rather the family and many commercial commitments he now has.

*** JODOUG *** I agree with you about the defeat at the FO... but its undeniable that Roger is playing one or two steps down the level he was playing last year and i dont think that this is about his age... i thing something physical its going on... hope im wrong...

Anyway i hope he wins tomorrow and this can give him the confidence for the rest of the season and certainly for Wimbledon and USOpen.

**MITGANZ** i don't think roger had a bad loss at the FO. the score looked bad but really whether it is quick loss like that or 10-12 in the 5th set, the loss is exactly the same. alternatives were losing to ferrer who has never beaten him or lose to nadal for 21st time so journalists could jump all over that. i'm happy he lost where he did. he has a winning record against tsonga. just won 5 setter last GS. but tsonga has won before so no surprise. just my opinion.
