6th Halle title!

16.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger celebrated the 77th title of his career and the first of this season after a 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4 victory over Mikhail Youzhny in Halle today.

"I feel fit; I feel confident. I'm excited about what's to come. I'm very pleased with how I played this week," Roger said. He was put under constant pressure until the middle of the second set, when Youzhny double-faulted on break point and Roger then went on to take the set. He took a 4-3 in the third set after a fantastic backhand to later seal his victory and a perfect start into the grass season after just over 2 hours.

With his 77th career title, Roger is now even with John McEnroe on the all-time list after Jimmy Connors (109) and Ivan Lendl (94). Our champion will aim at extending his record of 17 Grand Slam titles at Wimbledon starting in a week's time.

Great Win! we all know you are the most talented out there by a fairly large margin but metal toughness is the key roger which the new younger guys bring to the table against you so if you get good at that then i guess you are virtually unbeatable.

Almost forgot to congratulate you on that 6th Hall title and becoming the 3rd best player ever in terms of ATP titles. Allways good to see how genuinely happy you were with the title. Every tennis player knows that winning is the best feeling there is, not matter if you are a young child or a veteran.
Like all your fans I hope to be able to see you play for many more years. Win or lose, there is nothing better than watching you play tennis, especially on grass on a Sunny day.

To me you looked fine, well in form and fit for Wimbledon to defend your title. Maybe only a little more practice on finishing the points quicker when you get a volley or a smash ;-), but I am sure that once you are at Wimbledon things will fall into place by itself ;-).
It was lovely to see your little girls in the box getting more involved in their daddys work every day, maybe even dressed for the occasion by Gerry Weber?
Wishing you a good rest and an even better start in Londo

you focussed more, concentrated better, became more aggressive and alert with the desired result of making the break and winning the next two sets and the match. As allways an absolute delight to watch you live from a very good seat behind the baseline, where I can watch from the servers and the receivers perspective. I was happy for Michael Youzhny that he was able to show how well he can play, especially since you beated him so easily last year, both at Halle and Wimbledon.

Hello Roger,

Thanks to you and the pleasant athmosphere in at the Gerry Weber Stadium and in the beautifull countryside of Westfalen and Niedersachsen I had a wonderful weekend. Saturday a 3-set match against Tommy and yesterday another long match against an in form Youzhny. Like Mischa Sverev said about you in his interview on Friday it seemed that once you have set your mind to win you are unbeatable. Both in the semis and in the final it seemed that after having lost the 1st set, ...
