Wimbledon: the draw

22.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger faces a truly tough challenge for the defense of his Wimbledon crown this year: he could meet Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals, Andy Murray in the semis and then Novak Djokovic in the final.

Roger will open his quest for an eight title on Monaday against Victor Hanesecu of Romania (ATP 47), against whom he has won all five encounters so far. Sergiy Stakhovsky (ATP 117) or Rogerio Dutra Silva (ATP 102) could follow in round two.
Fabio Fognini (ATP 30) and Nicolas Almagro (ATP 15) would then be possible opponents before an explosive quarter-final against Rafael Nadal - this year's no.5 seed.

At every match, be like a lion ever ready to devour his prey. When your opponent sees this aggressive personality, his self-confidence would start crumbling. Never let the cheers affect you. Stay focused, win every point. In other words, dominate every match. You dictate every game....

Do not worry about draws. All you should think of is preparation. It must be the best. You are Roger Federer, and you have gotten through tough tournaments a lot of time. This time should not be different. Do not be affected by negative comments and predictions. You are the only one who can do or undo your history for the 8th Wimbledon title. Believe you can, and do something to make it happen. Come to court prepared with the weapons for your opponent.

TONYN Thank you for your reply. Perhaps I tend to take things like this more on face value and therefore without reading these complex references you posted, I cannot see the point of fixing draws. In the last one on Friday why put Murray, Nadal and Roger in the same half. Defies logic, well to me!

Dutchlady, I remember Margriet and I feel very sad to hear of her passing. Thank you for informing us. I was very moved by what you wrote about her. I will remember her in my prayers. Budds.

Well after a easy draw at the French this comes as no surprise. Djokovic does seem to always get cake walks. The problem is Rafa in the QF Murray in the SF and Novak in the F. Remember Australia? You had one rough match with Tsonga and then was shattered for Murray, Nadal would be at least five sets win even if you struggled past Murray you'd be dead for Novak. You aren't really git enough for five setters anymore it has too many knock on affects.

"GOOD LUCK ROGER" I sincerely hope you can overcome this difficult draw and win the trophy. I know your best game can do it. "Feds forever"

Hey Feds, draw doesn't really matter, you have a better record on grass than anyone ever. This tournament is yours. Go hard, 8 Wimbeldons and 18 Gland Slams in two weeks. Your the man.
