Wimbledon: the draw

22.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger faces a truly tough challenge for the defense of his Wimbledon crown this year: he could meet Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals, Andy Murray in the semis and then Novak Djokovic in the final.

Roger will open his quest for an eight title on Monaday against Victor Hanesecu of Romania (ATP 47), against whom he has won all five encounters so far. Sergiy Stakhovsky (ATP 117) or Rogerio Dutra Silva (ATP 102) could follow in round two.
Fabio Fognini (ATP 30) and Nicolas Almagro (ATP 15) would then be possible opponents before an explosive quarter-final against Rafael Nadal - this year's no.5 seed.

Fancy Free: Good Mama did not make a silly comment. Roger has been getting the vast majority of the tougher draws since 2008 Australian Open. In the draws of 20 of those past 23 majors, Roger Federer got the tougher semifinal opponent in his draw, while Nadal got the easier semifinal opponent. That's an abnormal deviation, and some analysts publicly said it indicated draw fixing. An independent investigation is needed. Read poster Michael9's posts in this link.

Yeah draws of slams are all fixed for solely Nadal since 2008. Roger 2008 got mono virus. I don't know why do they fix it for Nadal than Roger, the king of tennis. they should get punished for this!

Yes this is a tough draw - but it is still possible for you to win Wimbledon. I would love it if you could make it Grand Slam No. 18. You won in Halle. Good luck Roger!

There were 23 grand slam tournaments since 2008 Australian Open. In the draws of 20 of these 23 slams: Roger got the tougher (higher-ranked) opponent in his semifinal draws while Nadal mostly got the easier opponent. This made it harder for Roger to reach slam finals (but easier for Nadal to reach finals feeling fresh). Since 2008, every Wimbledon, US Open, Australian semifinal draw has been bad for Roger. One point at a time, one game at a time, one set at a time. Remembering the fundamentals of tennis and keeping your emotions in check, remember to breath, not reacting to other players emotional responses. Where your opponent starts coming on strong come on stronger, harder and with great will. Force your will upon them without remorse. Enjoy yourself.
