A perfect start

24.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger made a perfect start into the tournament in Wimbledon with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 win over Victor Hanescu.

Looking back at his first title in 2003, Roger commented: "It's slightly different. Nine years ago when I came out the first time, it was the most special thing in the world. It still feels amazing. It was an absolute pleasure playing on Centre Court."

Roger found his rhythm right from the start, winning 90 percent of the points when he put his first serve in. He scored seven aces and just six unforced errors. In the final set, Roger left a mere 4 points for Hanescu to score.

Our champ will now meet Sergej Stachowski (ATP 116) in round two. Roger clearly won the only match between them so far.

I saw Tsonga was getting nowhere with his damaged knee. He clearly seems to have a serious injury. Did anyone see it happen? It is a shame he had to retire. I do not think he is one who retires easily and his absence will be missed.
It really is shaking up things this week. Hopefully Rogers superb footwork and balance will look after him. Have a good match Roger!

Now Gulbis can be Murray's potential QF opponent, since Cilic withdrew... Of course, he needs to get past Verdasco who's playing good.

Tsonga withdrew, it's really painful to see players withdrawing like this.. Hope Roger takes care about himself and be careful while playing.

RF4WORLD, thanks for your helpful posts and i do agree with what you said, but Roger must just not care about this and keep concentrating on his game.
