A perfect start

24.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger made a perfect start into the tournament in Wimbledon with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 win over Victor Hanescu.

Looking back at his first title in 2003, Roger commented: "It's slightly different. Nine years ago when I came out the first time, it was the most special thing in the world. It still feels amazing. It was an absolute pleasure playing on Centre Court."

Roger found his rhythm right from the start, winning 90 percent of the points when he put his first serve in. He scored seven aces and just six unforced errors. In the final set, Roger left a mere 4 points for Hanescu to score.

Our champ will now meet Sergej Stachowski (ATP 116) in round two. Roger clearly won the only match between them so far.

By the way.... where were these retirement comments when he crushed the first guy with 6-3, 6-2 and 6-0???

Roger did not lose today in straights. He kept fighting and he will be back.

KEMNA,

Those asking Roger to retire are not his fans, they are haters... So don't bother. Its a routine, they come here dump their crap here, when Roger loses. But his fans stand by him and encourage him. He didn't seem to play bad at all. The other guy was clutch in big moments and that made the difference. There's nothing he could do...

KEAZY

YES I REALLY DO BELIEVE THAT.

But the opponent deserved the win. He played incredible. I am not taking anything away from him. He played great and deserved the win.

My problem is that Roger did not play bad, so why all the retire comments??

BIANCONERO - This is Roger's website and doesn't need a comment about supporting Murray, especially now.

shiv08spyder/ no It's Roger's weak backhand return...sergei played great but if roger can return with his backhand return, Roger would have won easily. Roger seems He plays without his backhand. Roger must change to two handed backhand. He doesn't have to be amazing with his backhand to win tournaments.
