A perfect start

24.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger made a perfect start into the tournament in Wimbledon with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 win over Victor Hanescu.

Looking back at his first title in 2003, Roger commented: "It's slightly different. Nine years ago when I came out the first time, it was the most special thing in the world. It still feels amazing. It was an absolute pleasure playing on Centre Court."

Roger found his rhythm right from the start, winning 90 percent of the points when he put his first serve in. He scored seven aces and just six unforced errors. In the final set, Roger left a mere 4 points for Hanescu to score.

Our champ will now meet Sergej Stachowski (ATP 116) in round two. Roger clearly won the only match between them so far.

I am quite surprised ... What a weird Wimbledon this year !!!
I was with you all the way Roger ... I don't say it very often but you must be devastated right now :( I really hope you'll get over it fast ...
I still love you, always with you and for you.

SHIV08SPYDER

True words from also a true fan....

Roger breaths this game, he cannot leave it alone, he cannot stop.
Don't the others see that he fought???
The opponent was not playing better, look at the stats, they were equal, the opponent just took the important points better, thats all.

Roger does not like to lose, he will be back.

To be honest guys, although I am sad for Roger's loss, I am not disappointed by his attitude, if you see the stats also, you will figure he was playing well, but Stakonophzky was unbelievable, however, Roger really made me upset when he hit 2 balls towards his opponents body and he didn't apologize, I was amazed and felt that that was just not Roger..

Dear Roger
I still can't believe! But you had a very tough opponent, no matter his ATP ranking!
I'm more than sad, you didn't play badly, but you were not as focused in the right moments! I don't know how I'll survive this painful loss!
You opened the door for NDj and AM, because I don't think this guy could repeat his play vs next opponent!
I wish you all the best and a good rest!
Love, Mimi

KEMNA,

Why should he retire? He played 4 close sets and lost the match by a few points (ha a set point in the 4th). It's way better than Nadal's loss. Should Nadal retire too? He'll play for some years.. But we should expect these kind of losses. I expected the QF streak to be broken at USO or AO, not here..

well he can't stop playing tennis but he must, simply he must change something in his game, well that is too late now.

Totally agree with you SHIVO8SPYDER. Roger played great tennis and he should continue playing always!

WHY DON'T YOU GUYS LOOK AT IT LIKE THIS:

ROGER IS NOW "FREE" OF THE QF-STREAK BURDEN, SO HE CAN PLAY FREELY AND WIN.

LOOK WHAT HE HAD TO DO TO KEEP THE QF-STREAK ALIVE AT RG AGAINST SIMON...
