A perfect start

24.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger made a perfect start into the tournament in Wimbledon with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 win over Victor Hanescu.

Looking back at his first title in 2003, Roger commented: "It's slightly different. Nine years ago when I came out the first time, it was the most special thing in the world. It still feels amazing. It was an absolute pleasure playing on Centre Court."

Roger found his rhythm right from the start, winning 90 percent of the points when he put his first serve in. He scored seven aces and just six unforced errors. In the final set, Roger left a mere 4 points for Hanescu to score.

Our champ will now meet Sergej Stachowski (ATP 116) in round two. Roger clearly won the only match between them so far.

Every rise has a fall. it happened and really very shocking depressing to see.

Today is the black day in history of Wimbledon, Azrenka, Sharapova, Cilic, Tsonga, Wozniaki, Isner, and now Fed ousted.

Sorry but attitude was so casual and low during the match. Now we all know that this would be your last year. Good Bye Champion :::(:(:(:(

If it's Andy's year so be it but he must verse Djokovic in the final, at least the Gods must ensure that happens. And I can't believe the idiots who say Roger must retire, such shallow minds, the guy played his best or what he can today, the commentator said 'he is such a champion you can see his love for the game.' That he went out graciously is all that matters. I watched when he won big matches and lost big matches, he is and always will be my idol.

So so sorry Roger for that result. You played a great match and you fought to the end as you do. I doubt the other guy will play another match like that again. Right to the end I hoped you would just squeak through with your magic.
I still cannot understand how someone of that ranking could play like that against you. Still it has left me very upset as I should imagine it has you. I still love you and I am still with you Rogi!

Is it Djoko, Murray or a new GS champion in the making? Murray shouldn't miss this chance now...
