Out in Wimbledon

26.06.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger suffered his earliest defeat at Wimbledon since losing in the first round in 2002 today. He lost his second-round match against Sergej Stakhovsky 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 5-7, 6-7(5).

"It's normal that after all of a sudden losing early, having being in Grand Slam quarter-finals 36 times, people feel it's different. But I still have plans to play for many more years to come," Roger said.

Roger started well and secured the first set in the tie-break. But Stakhovsky went on to take the second set tie-break to level. Not being able to score a break himself, our champ was broken in set three - enough for his opponent to finally take a lead in sets. Roger fell back another break in the fourth set, but this time he managed to level at 3-3. Unfortunately he did not make the points in the final tie-break, falling back 2-5 and eventually admitting defeat after just three hours of play.

It was Roger's first defeat by a player ranked outside the top 100 since losing to Richard Gasquet (ranked at 101) in Monte Carlo in 2005. He will now fall back to at least number 5 in the world rankings.

writerfan u are 100 percent right.annaconda is definitely uninspiring one shy of a coach.coaches need to be tough and insolent and show this in their body language so the player get inspired.exactly roger needs reinspiration change can give him a different attitude.i think he doesnt send annacone home out of respect because annacone is a very gentleman of a coach. rog has to be frank with him absolutely candid and give it to him straight

I agree with many that Annacone has to go. He's not helping Roger with his mental or physical game. He needs a different coach to re-inspire him. Sometimes change is good. When Connors first worked w/Roddick, he started winning, the same way Lendl inspired Murray to stay more focused. Annacone is not inspiring enough. Perhaps now RF needs a coach who can help him grind it out mentally and apply completely different tactics. Try Cahill again? Maybe even Connors?

.he used to dictate rallies and the matches were on his racquet as he himself quoted las year at us open he shouldn’t keep defending because his syle is aggressive.

Against lanky loser isner in their davis cup tie clash and it happened lots of time I have waited for such a long time that he starts serving big again not going for 1st serve percentage but for aces and destructive serves.the serve made a big difference between him and the others.now he uses more forehand topspins instead of flat shots and is less aggressive esp on clay against tsonga.he has to dictate the rallies even making more unforced errors and losing more 1st serves.

of course this wasnt the case this year at sw19 as he was serving incredible and was just unlucky.las year at shanghai masters roger served 3 successive double faults against murray. i have never seen that of swiss maestro.it was unprecedented.and murray was attaking on rogers poor slice wide 1st serves for winners. i was really enraged at the scotsman's insolense. because roger's serve is the most precise of all time if not the biggest.he was attacked on his first serves for winners

and there are long rallies more often than not.just like roddick u can put the pressure in ur opponent with a 1minute serve and swiss maestro was well known for his 1 minute service games.its so weird why he doesnt risk on his 1st serve because his serve is the most trustworthy of all time.only in indoors courts he goes for aces.at us open he needs a big serve because i think his forhand is phenomenal and his backhand is descent and he doesnt make many unforced errors like he used to commit a cou
