Roger to play Gstaad

02.07.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 3

I'm really looking forward to playing in front of my home fans in Gstaad this summer. I have got a lot of great memories of the tournament in the mountains of Switzerland.

I cannot understand why anyone jumps to the conclusion that Roger is playing at Gstaad in order to announce his retirement! Be sure that when Roger retires it will either be at Wimbledon or at Basle I should imagine. Why on earth would he both to play Gstaad if he were going to retire????? What it says to me is that he is determined to get his ranking up again by any means necessary. I could be wrong but that's surely the logic of if.

Don't make such a big deal people. Roger just wants to play sooner and is fit. So he decides to play Gstaad. Even it is on clay, if there's anyone who can play equally well on all surfaces, it's Roger. He is so good at playing hardcourt so no worries. What worries me is his early exit at Wimbledon. He should have beaten Stackovsky no matter how well played. Roger should have come up with a better gameplan and play far more agressive. Roger needs to change something if he wants to win more GSs.

That's great, Roger. Only you know what you should play or not play. Praying for a great match and a win.
Wimbledon is far behind. Cannot watch those ..... It really feels bad seeing some of them in the semi or whatever... Just doesn't feel right without you. No beauty in their game ... boring... back and forth, so boring... TV off. I miss you,Roger. Please return to what you love most & win.
I know you are always trying your best. God bless you and all your family.
Love always.

Hey Champ, Good to hear that you decided to play a tournament before the summer HC season. Since you lost early here, you got more days to rest than usual... IMO this is not that bad since you don't have to travel far, play in front home crowd and it can serve as practice. Some good players there too... I know it's a quick turnaround to Hard courts but it's easy adaptation compared to Clay-Grass in June. Also your focus probably must be on Cincy, USO compared to Montreal... Go Roger, Win Gstaad!

Those who have watched Roger since 2001 know the consequences playing Gstaad clay in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 had on his hardcourt seasons... and why he took the smart decision to drop Gstaad after 2004. The pro tennis player's goals are to win the biggest titles and points on the ATP Tour (while idol worshipers dream their idol does things out of love for them). If Roger, instead of rebounding after Wimbledon, stumbles in hardcourt events -- fans in North America and the world won't feel love.

From the ESPN website "he Swiss Open is the lowest-ranked event the 31-year-old Federer will play this year."

I have though to say it looks very pretty there!

I KNEW IT! I JUST KNEW ROGER WOULD PLAY ANOTHER TOURNAMENT AND GRASS IF HE POSSIBLY COULD. Today I was thinking, it'll be Gstaad, and now I learn here that it is!

WONDERFUL NEWS, ROGER, JUST CAN'T WAIT. Everyone will be so excited. Good luck for a lovely tournament and I'll be following every match.
Much love as always to you and your dear family, Roger.

I like to know that you will play a torunament prior to Rogers Cup, I´d rather prefer you decide to play washington since it is a hard court but Gstaad is in high altitude which means that you will have to adapt to a lot of conditions and that is good preparation. Considering t5he drop of points from Wimbledon i Think you shopuld play Gstaad, Washington, Rogers Cup and cincinatti, then you will have at least a week to prepare for US open. Play more and better champ.US Open shall be conquered.
