Roger to play Gstaad

02.07.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 3

I'm really looking forward to playing in front of my home fans in Gstaad this summer. I have got a lot of great memories of the tournament in the mountains of Switzerland.

@Tnc: well, that's just for the love of the local fans. I read a beautiful comment on this by a poster here --

Wish, we all could understand how much Roger loves all of us, instead of thinking about points or money thingy. We love you, maestro, we really do. Allez.

I agree with a lot of other fans that this bizarre decision does NOT make any sense. Either:

1. Retirement preparations?
2. Trying a new racquet?

Right? What else could possibly explain it?

Playing on clay on July 22 week makes no sense one week before the hardcourt season begins with Montreal Masters, Cincinnati Masters, US Open.
July 15 week: Bogota 250 hardcourts
July 22 week: Atlanta 250 hardcourts, Gstaad 250 clay
July 29 week: Washington 500 hardcourts
Whatever appearance fees Gstaad offered are not worth it if, as a consequence, you injure yourself on clay... or withdraw from or under-perform in any of the three hardcourt tournaments. The hardcourt events are the priorit

Beautiful Roger,

Wicked news about Gstaad...you do float so well on clay...im so happy to see you on again.

I thought I'd have to wait til Canada to see you :) just wondering though why you've chosen to go back to clay instead of hc?

Anyway, you've got more insight than any of us...just happy to hear from.

Please people no speak of Retirement...we have been So depressed since your exit from SW19.

Love you SO much

Does not make any sense, why is Roger playing this ?

- Rogers Cup - courts are slow but still hard court - will clay help ?
- Points ? Definitey not playing for points - 250 is nothing. Playing Hamburg makes more sense as someone pointed out below, earlier.
- Sponsership money / appearence fee money.....?
- Retirement !!!!!! Not sure...not sure....

Roger knows best, hope he gives more insight than coming out with just 2 lines....

Happy to hear the news, I am sure, it will take you back to your best form, also, I just now read that, you got a cow in Gstaad in 2003, brought back so many fond memories of Wimbledon 2013 ---

We always love you champion :). Allez.

I guess that will be a really nice thing to do Rog, but it's puzzling that you should be going back to the clay. Have a lovely time though, xxxxxxxxx
