Roger in semis

19.07.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger reached the semifinal of the German Open Tennis Championship in Hamburg with a 7-6(4), 3-6, 7-5 victory over Florian Mayer today.

It was hard work for Roger all the way, he won the tie-break of the first set had to drop the second. In the third set, he scored a break twice to take a lead but the German broke back at both occasions. Roger finally went on to close the match, holding serve after another break in the end after exactly 2 hours of play.

Roger will now play Argentina's qualifyer Federico Delbonis (ATP 114) in Saturday's semis.

Hey don't compare Serena with Roger. Their styles are different. Serena may beat a D.Ferrer on a fast surface, if they play... She is different in the women's field.. But she'll have problems if the opponent is strong and good defender too...

Roger did well, but to win d USOPEN, which we all want him to, he should not be dragging with atp no 45, but be thrashing him 6-2, 6-3. See serena today, 6-1, 6-1. That's my kind of scoreline for a champ. More practice is needed. GO ROGER!!!!

Well done today Roger against Florian who's always been a tricky player to take on. Wish you all the best against Delbonis tomorrow, all the experience you're gaining with this racket can only be good. GO ROGER. Love you lots...

every win will not be the prettiest. doesn't matter. it teaches roger how to fight using his new racket. it really got a workout today. hope he got a lot of information about what he can do with it. got broken but also did some breaking. good fight today. he will be in switzerland next week. i'm sure mirka is there already. with all the cold, i hope roger's back is ok. now on to baby delpo!!!

Roger said the conditions were cold and heavy and the clay was heavy... Initially the match was scheduled at 5:20 local time but started at 7:45 due to the long previous matches..

Wonderful, marvelous, Roger! You struggled big way with the new racket, but you found your way. God bless you, onwards, darling boy!
