Out in Hamburg

20.07.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger was defeated by Argentine qualifier Federico Delbonis 6-7(7), 6-7(4) in the semifinals in Hamburg today.

"He played well, he was a little more aggressive," Roger said.

Our champ took a 2-1 lead to start with, but was broken right back and had to save two set points to take the set into a tiebreaker. All looked good there as he took a 4-2 lead but did not manage to convert a set point before then dropping the set. Roger had to keep up the fight, defending break points right in his first service game. Eventually taking the set into another tiebreaker, Roger committed a series of errors before Delbonis wrapped up his win.

Next up for Roger is a trip home as he will play the tournament in Gstaad in the Swiss mountains next week.

Hello Roger
Disappointing for you with the loss--however, you had 4 very good matches especially 3rd rnd
I have just read your interview re the odd bounces and the quickness of the course etc and your explanation why you plyed the way you did . Thank you
I should imagine it would not be easy to play with a different racquet[I read where Wilson have stated that it is NOT permanent as yet--one reason why it is black--also they corrected the size of it!] I do not know but would imagine trying

Kemna...I have no doubt about his new racquet, he will get use to it at no time (if he like it). If he will stop using it just only because he doesn't like it. Wilson K6 90 is the most difficult to play with, if u can use it, u will have no problem at all using any kinds of racquets in this world right now. At the shops here, no one touches K6 90 even it is half price sales.LOL. I am only concerned about his health.

30-9 that is your current record. Last year you had 10 losses the whole year and it was a great year. This is a transition year but now is the time to step it up, lets have 11 as the maximum losses barrier and celebrate your birthday in Toronto with a title. you have plenty of Tennis left and you are physically fine you can still play as the god of tennis. You are the best ever. Play like there is no tomorrow, with two late defeats you have less than 40 matches remaining this year, time to fire

Kemna, bravo and thank you! I've just finished watching the recorded match (I couldn't watch it direct). This morning when I realized Roger had lost to the qualifier, I was very sad, but the fact he lost in two tiebreaks made me sure he hadn't played badly! After watching him I completely share your opinion. Roger played well, but some shots were not chosen well. And he hadn't luck. Honestly, he won Mayer, but didn't play that well as today!
Dear Roger, we'll support and love you always
Mimi

i am happy seeing you play; no matter if you win or loss/ our champ forever.

Sorry for the loss, with little more care you could have beaten him, you had your chances, but you failed to make use of the opportunities, please prepare well for the next tournment

Hey Champ, you played well reaching the SF at Hamburg (would've loved to see you with the title), but you played some awesome shots. Just may be some work needed on your serve with that racket.. Anyway rest well and have a good tournament at Gstaad.. I'm sure you'll have a good Hard Court season..
BTW, Delbonis seems to be nice person like DelPo.. He showed some grit the last 2 matches and played great.. Bright future ahead if he keeps it up..

Kemna,

You are ABSOLUTELY 100% CORRECT. People, Federer, fans, I implore you to see reason. Roger Federer is the greatest person to ever step on a tennis court. People said he was done going in to 2012, and what did he do? Won, Wimbledon, played a great wtf, and regained the #1 ranking. The transition to the larger frame will take time-no doubt, but that is why Roger is getting matches in, so he can get used to it.

Let's go Roger, Allez, Come on. G.O.A.T.

I agree with you kemna, roger played very well and we should support him. Allez champ

PEOPLE, EVEN THE GREAT ROGER FEDERER CANNOT PICK UP A NEW RACKET AND START DEMOLISHING OPPONENTS !!!

IT TAKES TIME. THIS WAS ONLY HIS FOURTH MATCH WITH THE BIGGER RACKET.
IT WILL GET BETTER. HE WILL GET BETTER AND GET USED TO IT AND ADJUST THINGS, TRUST ME.

I thank you for trying and hope you will learn from this and improve and come back stronger. You can do it. I believe in you Roger, always and forever,
no matter what. I love you Roger. Rest well and good luck.

YOU WILL OVERCOME
