Out in Hamburg

20.07.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger was defeated by Argentine qualifier Federico Delbonis 6-7(7), 6-7(4) in the semifinals in Hamburg today.

"He played well, he was a little more aggressive," Roger said.

Our champ took a 2-1 lead to start with, but was broken right back and had to save two set points to take the set into a tiebreaker. All looked good there as he took a 4-2 lead but did not manage to convert a set point before then dropping the set. Roger had to keep up the fight, defending break points right in his first service game. Eventually taking the set into another tiebreaker, Roger committed a series of errors before Delbonis wrapped up his win.

Next up for Roger is a trip home as he will play the tournament in Gstaad in the Swiss mountains next week.

It's ok Champ! You can do better next time. Honestly, don't know why you have to change your racquet. For me, you play better on your wilson 90. Good luck in advance on your next tournament.

You still played a great match. I like the phrase “Roger had to keep up the fight.” This is the way, the spirit of perseverance is the key.
Unfortunately something is not working:
Players now read their opponents, Change the strategy. Play more the lines can give better results than throwing the ball at middle of the court
I'm sure that You will become more stronger and You made us proud and happy once more...
I pray that you stay healthy for the rest of season.

Put away all the pressure. You don't have to prove nothing to anyone!
You play tennis because you love it! Just it!

Dear Roger,
You don't have to be sad, it was just a match, a great practise for Cincinnati, US Open etc. Now you just have to get more familiar with your bigger racket, and you have to practise a lot. I hope that in Gstaad you will have better luck, and it would be great to see you with the trophy! Forget about this loss and concentrate for next week's tournament in your home country! Your true fans always stand by you, always support you, no matter what! Best of luck, Roger! Lots of love!
