Out in Hamburg

20.07.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger was defeated by Argentine qualifier Federico Delbonis 6-7(7), 6-7(4) in the semifinals in Hamburg today.

"He played well, he was a little more aggressive," Roger said.

Our champ took a 2-1 lead to start with, but was broken right back and had to save two set points to take the set into a tiebreaker. All looked good there as he took a 4-2 lead but did not manage to convert a set point before then dropping the set. Roger had to keep up the fight, defending break points right in his first service game. Eventually taking the set into another tiebreaker, Roger committed a series of errors before Delbonis wrapped up his win.

Next up for Roger is a trip home as he will play the tournament in Gstaad in the Swiss mountains next week.

I know right. What's wrong with the world? Just because Murray won Wimbledon doesn't mean he is the best male player. If we all knew about this voting, Roger would have won.

You've completed the majors, bagged almost all types of trophies that ATP has to offer, broken records, rewritten history books, and commanded the most impressive endorsement portfolio in sports. You could have spent a lifetime of vacations. And yet you still chose to be here and that's all that matters. I'm excited for Gstaad!!! Allez!!!

Well, times like this will really help you come out strong and I have a very good feeling for the US Open. You are a champion and you will be, forever. You are my G.O.A.T as far as tennis is concerned and will be looking forward for your return to form and will always cheer for you. Go Champ Go. Just believe in yourself and you will be fine. All the best for Gstaad & US Open Roger.

cont
As Margaret [hughsie]commented in one of her recent posts [always very good] Roger is a very unique extremely talented intelligent man the likes of which we have never seen on a tennis court. He, nor indeed none of us know, how we will cope with the highs and lows of life until we face them.
When times are difficult for whatever reason, ones needs love AND support, NOT criticism--Roger you will always have my support.
Thank you Joke & Margaret--keep posting.
