Roger advances

14.08.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger has secured a spot in the round of the last sixteen in Cincinnati thanks to a 6-3, 7-6(7) victory against Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber.

After missing last week`s event in Montreal Roger made his first appearance on the North American hardcourt since Indian Wells. "It was important to play a clean match. I had a few tough weeks, months behind me, I was happy to play a clean match. I told myself I was not going to come back until I felt no pain in my back. Eventually I started to workout very hard," Roger said.

CPISCEAN and FANCYFREE... yes.. Roger's stubbornness may have won him 17 GS in the past. But now at this age and time and henceforth going forward, his stubbornness could cause him decline. He has to agree to the fact that he is aging and can no longer do something that he was doing at his prime during 2004-08.
He has to switch to his new weapon as quickly as possible.

I agree that it was a wrong move to come into this tournament with his old racquet. He has been practicing and training for a month with the new one getting used to it only to go backwards. Roger's stubbornness to change is why his game is suffering this year.
