Roger defeated by Rafa

17.08.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger showed a strong match against Rafael Nadal in Cincinnati, but eventually had to admit a close 7-5, 4-6, 3-6 defeat.

"I'm happy with my progress along the way," Roger said. "Could have won tonight; should have won tonight. Who knows? But at the end, I think Rafa's confidence and the way he's playing at the moment got him through."

Our champ was in good shape, he varied his serve excellently and moved very well. After winning the first set, at 4-4 in the second, he was just 6 points away from winning the match. He made the 27-year-old Spaniard work for it from beginning to end, when he saved four match points before falling.

As defending champion Roger will drop over 800 points - making him fall back to number 7 behind Tomas Berdych and Juan Martin del Potro in the rankings.

Hope he gets Ferrer in the QF, if it's genuine draw... and falls in Novak's half... But if he's confident enough, it shouldn't matter...

Its just not one particular aspect that makes him the GOAT of tennis but many.. Be it the mighty dominance (302 weeks at No.1, 17 GS); consistency in dominance as well (237 straight weeks at No.1, 5 straight Wimby, 5 straight USO, 23 straight GS SF).

Thanks CJM! Federer is beyond tennis now. He is now in GOAT conversation across various sports [Phelps, Bolt and the likes].

If anyone doesn't acknowledge this juggernaut that is RF, they will be the ones sorry and not Roger!!! Keep the support going for RF guys. He needs the support now, more than ever!

One Sun, One Moon and One RF :)

I was actually heartened by the British news yesterday. They were worrying that Andy may have to face Federer, Djokovic and Nadal to win. Why was I pleased? Because they actually gave the compliment to Roger that he, along with Djoko and Rafa is still one to beat. In other words he is still a force to be reckoned with, not that we needed to be told that! I have voted by the way!

I JUST WATCHED EUROSPORT INTERVIEW McENROE ABOUT THE BIG PLAYERS AND AT NO TIME DID EUROSPORT SHOW HIM MENTIONING ROGER'S NAME !

BLOODY H...LL !! - THE SONOFA......!! MAYBE HE DID BUT EUROSPORT DID NOT SHOW IT - THOUGH I DOUBT THAT VERY MUCH.

HE DID SAY IT WAS BETWEEN THE OTHER 3, BUT WHEN HE MENTIONED THE OTHER 3 , HE DID NOT MENTION ROGER .

NO RESPECT WHATSOEVER !!
