Roger defeated by Rafa

17.08.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger showed a strong match against Rafael Nadal in Cincinnati, but eventually had to admit a close 7-5, 4-6, 3-6 defeat.

"I'm happy with my progress along the way," Roger said. "Could have won tonight; should have won tonight. Who knows? But at the end, I think Rafa's confidence and the way he's playing at the moment got him through."

Our champ was in good shape, he varied his serve excellently and moved very well. After winning the first set, at 4-4 in the second, he was just 6 points away from winning the match. He made the 27-year-old Spaniard work for it from beginning to end, when he saved four match points before falling.

As defending champion Roger will drop over 800 points - making him fall back to number 7 behind Tomas Berdych and Juan Martin del Potro in the rankings.

Nobody can imagine that roger could win uso this year but i think that he will. .he is still the most talented player even if he is 32 years old . Against rafa he was perfect . His curve is ascending

Roger will win at least 20 GSs before he retires and will play until the Brazilian Olympics. I KNOW that.

***NinjaFed*** with the very rare exception of a few people perhaps, no one is interested in murray's activities and whereabouts? Who cares? On this site , I mean.

Come on , man - get smart.

If you have somehow found a way to record Roger's episode, can you link it for us here??

My dearest Roger,
You are supremely talented but against Nadal you are mentally defeating yourself. Whether he is in good form or not or for that matter anything else like surface, conditions, age etc. don't bother about it. Just think and believe that you can play better and defeat him. Do your homework nicely. Study his game well. Watch how Novak beat him consistently. You can get a leaf or two from it. Be bold and execute your strategies and plans to a telling effect.
Yours lovingly,
