Roger defeated by Rafa

17.08.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger showed a strong match against Rafael Nadal in Cincinnati, but eventually had to admit a close 7-5, 4-6, 3-6 defeat.

"I'm happy with my progress along the way," Roger said. "Could have won tonight; should have won tonight. Who knows? But at the end, I think Rafa's confidence and the way he's playing at the moment got him through."

Our champ was in good shape, he varied his serve excellently and moved very well. After winning the first set, at 4-4 in the second, he was just 6 points away from winning the match. He made the 27-year-old Spaniard work for it from beginning to end, when he saved four match points before falling.

As defending champion Roger will drop over 800 points - making him fall back to number 7 behind Tomas Berdych and Juan Martin del Potro in the rankings.

FIRST IT WAS ARF ARF AND BOTTLE - NOW IT's k AND b.

IT'S NICE TO SEE SOME POSITIVE VIBES FLOATING ABOUT INSTEAD OF HEADS BITTEN OFF.

I'M GLAD FRIENDS ARE BEING MADE INSTEAD OF OTHERWISE.

I DO MEAN IT - I GOT NICE LETTERS TOO FROM SOMEONE FROM AUSSIE & MEXICO.

NICE TO SEE GOOD THINGS GOING AROUND.

GOOD OMEN FOR ROG - USO & WORLD FINALS - BACK WITH A VENGEANCE, AS THEY SAY - AS THE GREAT JAMES BOND SAID, 'NEVER SAY NEVER'!! END OF STORY.

Certainly Djoko is no more 2011-12's Djoko. Murray is inconsistent & seems to be burnt out now. RAFA is certainly now playing like current no-1. But the way our IDOL beat him in first set it seems he has almost regained it & in next match he will beat RAFA. Certainly our IDOL is building up but now on he has to bring in determination & eagerness like WTF final-2012.

Roger;

Just traine this backhand top spin! TRAINE A LOT!!!
In high balls use the SLICE IN LINE waiting the moment for use your forehand!
Be pacient, use the slice in line. And, when the opportunity comes, use the forehand in line to finish the point or put it in better position!
Be fast to surprise your opponents.
This is the tactic to win!

You know guys, something tells me that we are making a too big deal out of Roger qualifying for WTF. I really think he will barely qualify, but will win it all the way.
Rafa will be too tired and well you know his knees.
Novak is going the Roger way: losing a lot too, so I don't see him winning.
If Roger does no win WTF, I think Andy has a good chance.
I just hope that before the WTF Roger will not have to play extra tours just to qualify and that he will be too tired to win it after he quali
