Not an easy draw

23.08.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

The draw for the US Open is out: Roger's first-round opponent is Slovenia's Grega Zemlja (ATP 61). His path from there is rather steep - he could already play Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals. The Spaniard is the favourite for the title in Flushing Meadows after the double in Montreal/Cincinnati.

A meeting with Sam Querrey (ATP 29) is possible in the round of the last 16 before Roger could play Kei Nishikori (ATP 12) in the quarters.

After his five titles from 2004-2008 in New York, Roger is now aiming at his 18th Grand Slam title.

In 2011, Roger was 42-11 (79%) before the US Open, with one title. Critics said it’s his age.
But then, from 2011 USO to 2012 Cincinnati, Roger was 76-8 (91%), with 9 titles and No. 1 ranking.
Since then, from 2012 USO to 2013 Cincinnati, Roger was 44-15 (75%), with one title.

In 2013, Roger is 32-11 (74%) before USO, with one 250 title. Again critics say it’s his age.

High-performance champions win with their mind. Losers presume Roger cannot win due to age – before the match sta

Roger's play continues as the best.
Isn't it wonderful to see him crank that forehand ?!
Go, Roger. And keep going.

The reason Roger can't beat Rafa is because Roger is 32 and Rafa is in his prime. At their very best, Roger is the King of Hardcourts and Grass!
