Roger with a good start

28.08.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger won his first round at the US Open against Grega Zemlja (ATP 62) 6-3, 6-2 and 7-5.

Roger was in very good shape, winning the match in 1 hour 33 minutes. The stats for his first round are certainly impressive: 85% of points won on his first serve, 12 aces, backed up by 35 clean winners, the last of them a forehand volley to wrap it up.

The two players split the first six games to begin the match, before Roger won three in a row to take the first set, 6-3. He continued that success in the second set, winning 6-2 before taking the match with a 7-5 victory in the third set.

Roger will now play Argentina's Carlos Berlocq (ATP 48).

Glad to see you come out strong on your first match Roger, been watching your match here in the Philippines at 3am,that 3rd set was a close one,i think you've lost your concentration when the line umpire didn't call on that out ball, but were happy to see that you've gained control on that. Its a start of a very tough journey to reach that top of the hill Roger, we're always here to support you every step of the way,and we've always believe in you..Go for 18 MAESTRO!Best of Luck and God Bless U

Dear Idol,
Congrats for first round win.Really cherished your attacking play & down the line shots specially & your effort to finish the point at earliest.Thank you for entertaining.Hope you will figure out what went wrong in third set and change your tactics & gameplan accordingly against other opponents. Sounding very good for us as you said you know Berlocq very well.
All the best for round 2.

So good to see you play so well, Roger! Collected, calm, confident! It astonishes me that some claim you have to be like Djoke or Nadal, or whoever else. Let's see, how long did it take them, trying to learn from you, to get close to you? So the ***WILLIAM ALPHONSOS should think about that! Huge swings, huge power, very tall frames are like a phase of evolution: not always so successful. The more able, the more complex, naturally talented will lead. You said once "you can count only on yourself.

Oh yeh, straight sets, 90 minutes, great start Rog. Good luck against Berlocq (b-lock), hint at his tactic, b-lock from the baseline. Should be an entertaining match.
