A really solid first week

01.09.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger enjoyed a confident 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 win over Adrian Mannarino (ATP 63) in the third round to round off a great first week at the US Open.

Roger faced just a single break point in the entire match against the Frenchman and was obviously very pleased with his performance after 81 minutes of play. "There's always a lot of pressure coming out here on this court to perform, because you never know if you're going to play well. Tonight was one of those nights."

Roger will now play the round of the last sixteen against Tommy Robredo (ATP 22). Our champ leads the head-to-head 10-0 and could then be in for a quarter-final against Rafael Nadal in the quarter

Roger, the press sure said good when u win & said bad when u loss, that normal, but honestly, the 1st to 3rd round you play badly but still win becoz u opponent is poor, we don;t want to said negative thing even when u won, but frankly & honestly, you know better..u movement is much slower than last time, u also struggle with u serve, u look tire, sweat alot & breathing hard when play long rallies & points..fitness, physical , stamina, diet , sacrifies & racquet changes is what u need to do now.

WHAT MANY DO NOT REALIZE IS THAT

IT IS SUCH A DISADVANTAGE FOR ROGER

1) TO PLAY WITH THE OLD RACQUET (Heavier, unforgiving, less power) AT 32 YEARS
2) AGAINST PHYSICALLY STRONGER OPPONENTS
3) WITH LATEST TECHNOLOGY RACQUETS THAT GIVE THEM UNFAIR ADVANTAGE OF EASY POWER, MORE MARGIN FOR ERROR, LIGHT WEIGHT OF RACQUET
4) TO PLAY ON SLOWER COURTS THAT ARE MEANT FOR BORING BASELINE SLUG FEST.

1) 2) 3) 4) -- a combined cause for Roger's dismal 2013.

SOLUTION TO ALL THESE PROBLEMS ?

none of the people in this forum have had the right answer to roger's problems.... none of you... you all mentioned game, physicality, raquet, rafa, nadal, brainiac whateverthefuckever... but none of you had it right...

ITS PAUL (Sh6T BREAK) ANNACONE WHO IS KILLING ROGER FEDERER SLOWLY!! it's been too fUKING long now... annacone needs to die away and perish now.. Roger needs a new coach, someone to push him to his physical limits NOW, SO THAT AT LEAST HE CAN COMPETE WITH THE BEST....

Dear Idol,
Right assessment , it was more of a self destruction rather than beaten. Who said you did not play well? Few timely points conceded by you cost you 1st , 2nd & 3rd set. Except those unforced errors you played like your true former self-KING. I think you certainly have improved upto the standard of top four now. It is only to reduce these unforced errors. Please please work on this. Please move on.
All the best for Snaghai. Please take good care of yourself.

@IloveRoger92
Thnx. So well said. Next year we don't have to worry about defending so many points here. And our Maestro can rest his back more now. So it is not so bad and so sad after all. Yes. No 6 not bad.

I am so so much looking forward to Roger's next match in hope of seeing the NEW RACQUET in his hand.

That WILL LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD.

THE REAL H2H WITH RAFA WILL BEGIN THEN
WHEN THERE IS NO DISADVANTAGE FOR ROGER IN TERMS OF
SHOT POWER,
MORE MARGIN FOR ERROR AND
LIGHT WEIGHT OF RACQUET FURTHER ENABLING HIM TO INCREASE HIS RACQUET HEAD SPEED EVEN MORE.

THE GENIUS WILL EMERGE OUT OF THE SLUMP WITH A VENGEANCE AND
WE WILL WITNESS GREATNESS ONCE AGAIN !!!!

Please guys, I know you're all sad that Roger lost(I'm too, first i thought they were joking but then i realized they weren't..). Look at the positive side of this; Roger is now no.6.
And don't listen to the critics. We, RF fans, know better right?

This era of tennis is more focused on fitness, stamina and strength than on the sublime tennis skills.
Aging will NOT help to improve the physicality. However, with proper care, one can maintain their fitness and movement.

WHAT MANY DO NOT REALIZE IS THAT
IT IS SUCH A DISADVANTAGE FOR ROGER
TO PLAY WITH THE OLD RACQUET
AT 32 YEARS
AGAINST PHYSICALLY STRONGER OPPONENTS WITH LATEST TECHNOLOGY RACQUETS.

So Roger, the best thing for you to do right now is UPGRADE YOUR RACQUET. Use big

1) The majority of the courts are so much slower than in the past.
2) So Tennis is now more of a baseline game than the serve volley net play that was a decade ago.
3) The racquet technology has changed the way the sport is played. When new racquets provide so much more easy power, players feel NO need to rush to the net to finish the point when they can easily beat the opponent from the baseline.
4) Roger is 32 years old and playing with old school racquet and strategy.

1,2,3,4 == failure

I don't know why the reaction to Roger's loss is sadness. Be sad when someone dies. Roger is not DEAD. Please FANS be sensible...he'll be back. Roger always does. I saw the match & realized he would be losing after he lost the second set. For the first time I saw disgust in Roger's face, disgust w/himself. You all know HE DOESN'T HAVE TO PROVE ANYTHING TO ANYONE. Roger will RECHARGE...it's not over yet, and I am HAPPY for that. LOVE YOU MUCHO ROGER!!!!
