Out against Robredo

03.09.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger lost 6-7(3), 3-6, 4-6 to Tommy Robredo of Spain on Monday night in round four of the US Open.

"I kind of self-destructed, which is very disappointing, especially on a quicker court. Your serve helps you out. You're going to make the difference somewhere. I just couldn't do it. It was a frustrating performance," Roger said. He had enough opportunities to find his way into the match. Roger level to 2-2 after trailing 0-2 in the opening set. And he did so once again as Robredo broke his serve to 4-5, then matching the break and taking the score to 5-5 and finally taking the set into a tie-breaker. But over the two hours and 24 minutes of play, our champ accumulated 43 unforced errors and managed to convert only these 2 of 16 break points.

Next up for Roger is the Shanghai Rolex Masters in October.

Sorry but I don't believe Rafa makes injury excuses for his defeats. Even though he's actually among the most mentally tough players (if not THE most) to face (and hence, harder to beat).
Congrats to Nole today for staying focused and getting the job done, but Rafa will stay number one till at least March or April next year - simply because he has no points to defend. It's a mathematical certainty.

Hi Kemma, I fine ty:
Nadal was almost beaten by Fognini, Nadal is average on fast courts, he is so luck with slowing the courts.

Hey ADI1008, hey how are you.

Yes, finally a victory for Novak again against Rafa.
I have been a little harsh on Novak, because I was really disappointed in him for the way he was playing against Rafa and Andy.

But in that case I have to give him credit too. This was a very good win and a very good match. Hope he beats Rafa more, so does Roger.

So... this one I have to give to Novak. He did great. Congratulations Novak.

I hope Roger wins everything and if he does not, I hope Novak wi

Yes, Rafa did had something with his knee after Fognini, but since he won, he did not let it know too much. Now... he lost, he will say it again.
Don't count on Rafa beeing long at number one, this match today may finally show that he TOO is human and that he is getting tired after such a season.

And I believe in Roger. This is his period of time, he will do well.
