Roger wins first match

09.10.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger has booked a spot in the round of the last 16 in Shanghai after a 6-4, 6-3-victory over Andreas Seppi.

Roger only encountered a few problems in the opening phase of the match when he was  broken by Seppi to fall back 2-3. But Roger immediately responded, secured a re-break and went on to win the first set without any further difficulties. He opened the second set in style, breaking his opponent to jump to a 2-0 lead and then take home the match after 74 minutes of play.

Next up is Gaël Monfils (ATP 42) in the round of the last 16. Roger leads the head-to-head 6-1.

just cool down nothing new if Federer losses these days so the voices for his
retirement are not valuable anymore at the end only he will decide w h e n and
where !!

Basel is in two weeks.

Not retirement, but I think we should lesson our expectations. Roger still has flashes of genius but they are just that, flashes. No consistency these days. Another disappointing day for us all alas.

I think Novak and Rafa are doing a happy dance together in the lockerroom....

Please don't burn Roger too much on his own site, you know he will get enough of that everywhere else... lets keep atleast his own site dignified for him...

Very disappointed but when you see the match stats, Roger could not have won it.

More match fitness is required. Let's hope he can get it with the doubles.
