Roger wins first match

09.10.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger has booked a spot in the round of the last 16 in Shanghai after a 6-4, 6-3-victory over Andreas Seppi.

Roger only encountered a few problems in the opening phase of the match when he was  broken by Seppi to fall back 2-3. But Roger immediately responded, secured a re-break and went on to win the first set without any further difficulties. He opened the second set in style, breaking his opponent to jump to a 2-0 lead and then take home the match after 74 minutes of play.

Next up is Gaël Monfils (ATP 42) in the round of the last 16. Roger leads the head-to-head 6-1.

I think I'm having a panic attack...I don't like rollercoaster matches.

TICKY, now it is your turn to make me laugh. I feel the sentiment. I can't see me going to bed and settling down any time soon. Will take me a while for the adrenaline to stop pumping.

SHAOCHIA, I disagree. The doubles can only improve his match fitness, timing and confidence in his game. I think it is a smart move for him to be playing doubles here also.

I'M going to leave the screen again. for awhile
he plays better if I am not there.
And I will have a coronary if I sit through another nail biting set.

How on earth did he manage that ? That said, I certainly am not complaining ! He could still do this, I hope this has given him some belief in himself. Come on Roger, break him, you can ! An early break for your confidence and to knock his!
