Roger out in Shanghai

10.10.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger lost his match against Gaël Monfils 4-6, 7-6(5) and 3-6 in Shanghai today.

Roger had a rough start, dropping his first service game which was just enough lead for Monfils to take the opening set. Roger was broken again in the middle of the second set - but this time he broke back powerfully, eventually winning the tie-break. Monfils took the initiative in the decider, breaking to take a 3-1 lead and fianally the match on the first of his three match-points.

Roger's next stop on the Tour will be Basel, his home town. The tournament starts on October 21st.

**CJM**
Yes its a deadly category 5 cyclone. 200mph winds.

My region is miles away from the path of the cyclone. No worries for me.

However it looks like its going to hit the eastern coast of india hard and move north west from there.

My thoughts with people of those areas.

Thanks SDANU. Yes you are probably right. Roger will do what and when he feels comfortable with.

I still think CJM is correct that should Roger do some exhibition tour at Christmas, that would be a good time to practise with a new racquet without the pressure of winning.

As we were very poor we worked some extra night duty shifts, caught the train, watched Lleyton THEN it was suggested that we go over to a small outside court to watch this young talented Swiss guy whom the late Peter Carter [another Sth Aust]was coaching or helping him.Peter and Darren Cahill were friends.
I do not really know BUT there was something special about Rogers play-I loved his F/H. He read the ball very well appeared to know when & where to hit it .

I too think it will drop on him like a bombshell if he does not qualify for London. It will confirm to him how bad things have got, rather than this is a mere blip. Somehow, though I think he will continue through to the end of the year with the tiny racquet.he only has a week left before Basel to practise, he will stick to what he feels most comfortable with for better or for worse. I hope you are not in the path of the Cyclone?

2 Jonathans asked RF but he did NOT reply.

"@rogerfederer are you still planning to test some some different racquets in the off season or sticking with the PS90? #askRF"

Jonathan Ryle ‏@JonoRyle 8 Oct
"@peRFectTennisUK @rogerfederer I second this question. Still going to test it not? #askRF"

May be Roger likes to keep his trump cards close to his chest.
But that is driving me nuts !! Need to know whats going on !!

I heard the same thing on the Dutch news. This cyclone can do serious damage.. My thoughts are with the people in the area where the cyclone hits the shore.
