Roger out in Shanghai

10.10.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger lost his match against Gaël Monfils 4-6, 7-6(5) and 3-6 in Shanghai today.

Roger had a rough start, dropping his first service game which was just enough lead for Monfils to take the opening set. Roger was broken again in the middle of the second set - but this time he broke back powerfully, eventually winning the tie-break. Monfils took the initiative in the decider, breaking to take a 3-1 lead and fianally the match on the first of his three match-points.

Roger's next stop on the Tour will be Basel, his home town. The tournament starts on October 21st.

How come NOT even a single journalist asked Roger about the status and progress in racquet testing ??

Any good student of the game would surely have asked Roger.

Stupid journalists at shanghai.. You should all quit ur jobs. You don't seem to have any knowledge about tennis.

Part of watching/following your career is to read you interviews/press conferences--always a joy to read and learn from you. Yesterday was no exception--excellent for which I thank you.

To the critics commentators, media whoever just remember " there is NO monument to a critic."
You and only you know what is best for you, a champion with a champion's mind--Life is full of twists and turns, ups and downs. We do not always know what we are capable of doing until we find ourselves

ALL other players are just LUCKY that Roger plays with old school smaller racquets.

If Roger was of the same age as Rafa, Nole and Andy, he would have definitely adapted his game to a larger high tech racquet and crushed those 3 players just like he dominated the Hewitts and Roddicks.

Considering all of that AND lack of match play I thought that you played well in Shanghai for which I thank you. Roger, as long as you are healthy AND enjoy playing I will be here to support you through thick and thin, feel so priviledged that I have been fortunate enough to watch you rise from no 500 in the world to the great champion that you have become. The 1st time that we watched you play there were 14 spectators--I must have one of your orginal autographs!

on a given day--Thursday he played well. His problem is that he is not consistent which is a pity,as he can be exciting to watch. The umpire is was not consistent either
as Gael should have been warned re some long delays between points.
2011-2012 was phenomenal year for you ending in those wonderful Sth American exos --those legs of yours keep on going!!
2013 has not been as you had planned/hoped with back problems which prevented you from participating in practice blocks.

So guys, when you see any Rafa Fans discussing and praising their GOAT,
just ask them this simple question.

If Roger and Rafa are FORCED to play with racquets which are UNFAMILIAR to both of them, and play on all different kinds of surfaces, who would win more ?

That would say who the MOST SKILLFUL TENNIS player ever is.

Its NOT Roger's fault that he is NOT using larger racquets.
RF is a man from the previous era of tennis.
Roger started when Tennis was dominated by serve volley players who played with smaller racquets.
HE developed his game to make the best use of the smaller racquet.
HE is the only old school player to successfully transition to this new era of tennis by winning lets say 8 or 9 slams in this new era of baseline tennis.
That is a testament to his greatness. ONE and ONLY GOAT..

Hello Roger
"Until you climb into the skin AND walk around in it, you NEVER really understand the other person"
How anyone, anyone thinks that they know what someone thinks let alone what one SHOULD or should not do when they have not walked around in Roger Federers skin is totally beyond me.
Roger ,we enjoyed the Monfils match. Even though you did not win , you still thrilled us with some beautiful tennis. Monfils is likened to a 'jackpot' one never knows what this dangerous player will do

Roger's latest tweet.
"Switzerland made it to the World Cup, how happy am I on a scale 1-10? About a 25. Great effort and congratulations. #brasilherewecome"

Roger i just love your witty sense of humour.

On a more serious note, I like to get a reply from Roger for this tweet (by fedfan07)
"@rogerfederer on a scale from 1-10, how happy will you be WHEN you win grand slam #18? http://federerfan07.com :)"

Guys what do u think Roger will say to that question ???
