Roger moves on in Basel

21.10.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger made a great start into the Swiss Indoors in Basel with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Adrian Mannarino.

Roger opened the match with a break - but the Frenchman was able to do the same just a bit later. Another break in game number 7 then gave our champ the necessary advantage to secure the first set. Roger further raised his level in the second set, happily wrapping up the victory after 66 minutes of play in front of his home crowd.

Roger will either play Horacio Zeballos (ATP 51) or Denis Istomin (ATP 48) in the next round.

Hello Kemma, I am fine, ty, how are you?
Imo, Federer needed a change and I think the change of the coach is a must, not because Paul wasn't a good coach, just because Federer needed something to boost him. Federer right now has a good field game, his weakness is the serve. Idk why his confidence is so low, with his talent he can beat anyone, even Nadal. Regarding the loss of Berdych, Federer has Del Potro, and if wins tournament without meeting some of the 8, is a good thing, step by step he...

Hey Adi, how are you? What do you think about our Goat's chances???
In a way too bad that Berdych lost. We would know where Roger would stand regarding confidence if he would play Berdych.

What do you think about Roger beeing coachless??

IMO, Berdych is qualified for WTF and Idk if is a strategy for Paris, but as the score shows, I am sure that wasn't. Regarding Wawrinka, no, I am sure that he lost fair, he could win some points until semis, and than he could lost in a training match, so they didn't lost at Basel to have more time to prepare for Paris.

Anyone else think that Wawrinka and Berdych "lost" at Basel to be more prepared for ATP Paris where you will have more points to gain because it is a 1000 title????
