Roger defeated in final

27.10.2013 | Tennis

Roger showed great tennis in today's final at the Swiss Indoors but was defeated by Juan Martin Del Potro 6-7(3), 6-2, 4-6.

Roger fought hard and both players displayed a terrific match. Our champ admitted a break in game number eight but came right back with a re-break to love. Unfortunately Del Potro proved the better player in the tie-breaker, taking the opening set. Roger jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second set and scored another break at the end of the set, wrapping it up neatly. The start into the decider was very unlucky for Roger. He was serving for the game at 40-15 but committed a total of three double-faults to lose the advantage and the game. Not able to score a break himself, Roger had to admit defeat after 2 hours 20 minutes.

Roger will play the tournament in Paris next week. He needs to win one single match there in order to qualify for the World Tour Finals.

**K3**
finally i see a person seeing what i see.
I share my thoughts, feelings and frustrations with u, friend.

I am frustrated simply because i see so much scope for EASY improvement by switching to the larger head.
YES i saw what u saw in Hamburg and Gstaad.
Most of Roger's shots went long due to that extra power.
His sliced BHs were much faster. Serves had a bit more pop and speed.
AND all these INSPITE OF ROGER'S BAD BACK !!!.

My hat goes off to you, Roger! You looked great and the game could have gone either way.

I just cannot imagine 02 without you so all you need to win is one match
Love Carole

**TO ALL HERE**

Mannarino, ISTOMIN, Dimitrov, POSPISIL ?? Fed is in great form ? Really ??

I would be happy and believe and say Fed is BACK,
only if he beats atleast 2 top 10 players (Nole, Rafa, Andy, Delpo, Tsonga, Berdych) in a SLAM or any other OUTDOOR masters 1000 tournament.

Until then, I WILL NOT GET CARRIED AWAY like all the poeple here.

I am just keeping myself READY to accept any results Roger might have in the future.

SDANU is rite...roger is at a stage in his career where he will go into declineand this is natural....hisgame is not gng to imrove further we have to accept this....and that is why he needs external help....in hamburg and gstaad he was at the lowest this year....but still considering it was clay his backhand stood the test and the slice also had a lot of bite on it...it also gives his serves more speed...and I don't remember seeing any shanks...bals were sailing longbcoz he was not used to power

He has tried the larger racquet and doesn't appear to like it much so that being the case, accept his decision to stay with the smaller one for the time being.
